Recording to NAS or Moving file after recording.
Posted by: Monberg75 - 2015-10-28, 07:10 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi.

Im using an Intel Compute Stick to record things from my HDHOMERUN.

I cant seem to get it to record to my nas, though the share is free, and dont have to get login.

Is there a way where i can move the recording after i recorded it? an 'after record script' option or something like that?

Regards:
Monberg from Denmark.

Shows set to record not appearing in red in program guide
Posted by: dongna - 2015-10-28, 12:49 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm noticing that sometimes (not all the time), in the program guide a show that is set to record is not displayed in red as it should. I know the show is set to record because it appears correctly in the Recordings > Pending list.

Screen shots attached demonstrating what I'm describing. The show Chicago Fire should be displayed in red, but isn't.

Recording service appears to be stopping randomly
Posted by: dongna - 2015-10-28, 12:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I'm experiencing a lot of missed recordings. It seems quite often the recording service is appearing to stop for no apparent reason. I say this because I'll check NPVR on my computer when I know a show should be recording and the little "n" logo in the lower right corner is white instead of red as it should be if recording. If I right-click on the "n" and click Re-start recording service, the "n" will immediately turn red and the show will begin recording.

Not sure what might be causing this?

  Windows 10 dual monitor
Posted by: Dale Dewing - 2015-10-27, 08:03 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Since I have upgraded to Windows 10 NextPVR many times opens on my secondary monitor even thou I do not have open on secondary monitor checked in settings. If it starts opening on my secondary monitors and I check open on secondary monitors in settings, then it opens on my primary monitor for awhile. If it opens on my secondary monitor and I turn my monitors off and on, then it moves to my primary monitor. Sometimes in black until I hit a key.

  Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 Hardware Encoding.
Posted by: edumetz16 - 2015-10-27, 06:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 Plus capture card with hardware encoding. How can I make sure that it is working correctly in NextPVR. I can playback video and capture, but it seems as it is not using incorporated hardware encoding because CPU usage is very high.

Thanks

Setting to cause warning when canceling specific instance of recurring recording
Posted by: BrettB - 2015-10-27, 06:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

It would probably be good to have a setting (on by default for new users) which would give additional information to user when canceling a specific instance of a recurring recording. For those of us that understand how NextPVR scheduling works, we could turn if off to avoid the extra information box.

The box could say something like:
"Warning: You are about to cancel a specific episode/recording instance for a recurring recording. If you want to cancel all (future) episodes of this program, go to the Recurring Recordings screen and Cancel the recurring recording entry in that list. Canceling this specific episode will cause it to not be remarked for recording even if you cancel and recreate the recurring recording in the future.

Do you want to continue?"

I'll have to admit that I'm not exactly sure how Updates to specific instances work. I think any change to a specific instance will get lost at the next EPG update (if it occurs before the recording). If so, it would probably also be useful to having something like:
"Warning: You are about to Update a specific episode/recording instance for a recurring recording. If you want to update all (future) episodes of this program, go to the Recurring Recordings screen and Update the recurring recording entry in that list. Any updates made to this specific instance will revert to the Recurring Recording settings after an EPG update.

Do you want to continue?"

I know that sub and others are not keen on having extra warnings or confirmations like this. But as long as it can be turned off, I don't really think that it would be a problem for those that don't want to see it. And, with the demise of WMC in Windows 10, we seem to be seeing an uptick in the number of new users trying NextPVR and not understanding exactly how it works. These tend to add a good number of support posts on the forums. If we can add a few user interface modifications to try to address some of these common misunderstandings, etc. early on, it should be a win-win for both the (new) users and those of us trying to help provide support.

  Slow tuning using Ceton card
Posted by: rykr - 2015-10-27, 04:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

Been trying out MediaPortal and NextPVR and finding that MP has *much* faster channel tuning that NextPVR. Tuning the first channel on both (after startup) is a little slow but after that tuning a channel with MP is like 1-2 secs max. On NPVR the time seems constant. 4-5 seconds.

I want to try and use NPVR as it has the ability to record only new shows in a series and it has SD support built in. Hwever the slow channel tuning is a drag.

Anything I can do to speed this up?

Thanks
Reggie

Changes to options on one system, result in changes to another system
Posted by: Lone_Stranger - 2015-10-27, 02:43 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

It seems when I update config.xml on system-B, the same changes are made without my permission to system-A.

I changed system-B's recording directory back to C:\Public\Videos during some maintenance. That change was also reflected, automatically, on system-A, resulting in an out-of-space condition.

Today, my config.xml was changed automatically, removing my userID and password for schedules direct. I'm apparently goin' looney.

I have three systems that each record programs, as well as multiple other client systems that do not record.

Can anyone shed some light?

Mangled UI events with overlapping TV Guide & "Please Wait" box never vanishing.
Posted by: GuruSR - 2015-10-27, 12:38 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (20)

So far, so good, the rig is as follows:

i5-4460, 8GB, ASUS H87M-E, 2 x Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 Dual TV Tuner / Encoder - OEM, 240GB Kingston SSD, Win 7 Home Premium-64, ASUS BluRay RE drive, Antec 650 Platinum PS (93% efficiency) in a SilverStone ML03 case.

The software is running and recording, so far it's only been recording with 1 tuner, as it is, I'm using the guide to add shows, but setting the EPG for 8am update only gets to about 7pm for most of the channels and then I have to manually re-scan it. IS there a plugin to force more than 1 EPG update a day? At say 2pm, it should get the rest of the day to 11pm (which is fine). Also, what I was hoping, was to be able to tell the unit, turn off after the last recording for the night. I have a 7:59AM boot in the BIOS, so it will boot up daily at that time, giving it a minute to boot (takes a lot less than that) so the EPG can be done at 8AM.

Now some will say "Are you nuts having that i5 in there, not to mention that 650 Platinum PS" and I'll answer "No", the reason is, the air cooling is "PASSIVE" in the case, the only fan in there is the CPU fan, nothing else. The power supply's fan is just for itself (and sadly, not as quiet as I'd hoped, but because it's less than 1CM from the shelf, the noise is elevated due to accoustics). The system running at full use for the duration of burn-in (built the system on Friday last week) got the board to 90F and the CPU to 101F.

I plan on using ComSkip in parallel to all the tuners that are recording, to catch commercials, but before I get there, I really need to get this TV Guide issue resolved (and the graphics part of it too).

What happens (Active Skin is Default):

Show TV Guide, go somewhere else, click the Menu button, either it slides out and shows up properly OR it slides out UNDER the TV Guide (unreadable). Or, I click to somewhere other than the TV Guide (after having it open), click on the Menu and the TV Guide pulls up over top of the menu and where I last was.

Stopping Live TV:

The "Please Wait" window never vanishes, unless I click somewhere outside of it. I left it for an hour at one point, it never came out, until I clicked outside of it, then it vanished. Tried turning Sync on and off with no change, both this system (my desktop) and the new above HTPC exhibit the same things, so it's not hardware related.

My major issue now is, not being able to re-fire the EPG scan more than once a day.

On a lighter note:

Anyone have any info on if this remote: http://www.amazon.com/Aerb-Wireless-Keyb...B00K768DHY

Does it work with NPVR or am I running into a brick wall? I need a remote as the HTPC hybrid sleeps when not in use and without a USB device to wake it up, it stays off and requires the power button pressed to wake it up. (Oh and I didn't plug any of the lights in, like I need blinking lights glaring at me while watching TV recordings, wish I could turn the BluRay drive's light off.)

GuruSR.
