  Remote Mapping
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2016-01-04, 03:38 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I just got a Harmony 350. I have figured out how to get the remote to be understood by the PC with it's built-in IR Receiver. But I don't know how to map the keys to work with NPVR. Google has not helped me ;/ Can anyone help me?

  Different "record" button
Posted by: RTKAT - 2016-01-04, 01:16 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

If I am watching something and use the remote and press "record", I get a message on the screen that states "recording". OK, great. But if you check the guide, the recording shows it will stop at the end of the listing. How about a record button that I have had on many other devices that when you pressed record it would start recording and every time you pressed it again, it would show the recording time increased by 30 minutes. It would be nice for when sports pushes what you wanted to record and the guide just does not follow the correct time.

  Genre Coloring
Posted by: gambo1953 - 2016-01-04, 12:44 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (22)

I have been using NextPVR for a few months and one feature I cannot get working is Genre Coloring under Misc 2. I have opened it several times and have only managed to get one color code set, despite making multiple changes. I am currently running v3.6.6. I have searched the forums but not hit on anything obvious. Is there a process other than using the Genre Coloring button under Misc 2? I feel like I am missing something. Thanks in advance.

Unable to communicate with recording service
Posted by: EuroSong - 2016-01-03, 09:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

Dear NextPVR developers,

I just installed a fresh copy of your software (latest version). I was able to see my tuner devices and successfully scanned for channels. However when I try to actually watch live TV, I get the error message "Unable to communicate with recording service".

I checked the NPVR log file, and it appears that the relevant entry is:

Quote:2016-01-03 21:30:02.541 [ERROR][1] Unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968

This suggests some kind of internal port blocking: however I can not see what. I checked Windows Firewall, and confirmed that NextPVR was ticked as an allowed program. I then tried turning off Windows Firewall altogether - however the error still remains.

I have installed the program on a stand-alone computer: just trying to watch on localhost, so no network involved.

Please help. Since Microsoft has stopped support for Windows Media Centre, I can not install Windows 10 yet until I find a viable alternative which allows me to watch & record live TV on my computer. So far, no PVR software has worked properly.

Thanks.

unhandled exception when trying to read media folders
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2016-01-03, 05:31 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I have npvr reading music, pictures and videos from an external hard drive. This is a new install on Windows 10. And I'm getting unhandled exception errors when accessing music and pictures but not videos. Even though all three folders are on the same drive.

  Better Use of Space
Posted by: jcole998 - 2016-01-03, 04:38 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I'm a big fan of using empty space to its best advantage:

I would like to recommend that the empty space on the right of the Recordings->Recurring Recordings screen be used to list currently scheduled events for the highlighted item on the left. Wouldn't have to page through the Recordings->Pending Recordings screen to check if a program is scheduled. Nice, huh?

Unable to schedule recordings from MrMC on AppleTV 4th gen
Posted by: ajrietveld - 2016-01-03, 04:41 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (6)

I'm unable to schedule recordings from the guide or from the search function using NextPVR 3.6.6 backend and MrMC, a fork of Kodi, running on the AppleTV 4th gen. The front end on the AppleTV is fine otherwise, being able to pull in guide data, watch live tv, as well as recordings. The add-on version is 1.11.4.

Any ideas?

I realize that MrMC isn't the same as Kodi/XMBC but wasn't sure where else to post it.

EDIT: Another instance of Kodi 15 is able to hook into the same backend and schedule recordings without problems. That instance of the add-on is 1.10.8. However that instance of Kodi is running on the same machine as the backend. So maybe a firewall thing communicating from the AppleTV? No idea.

"Now Playing" not showing all channels
Posted by: GlenH - 2016-01-03, 04:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Here's the scenario:

1) Have a recording in progress
2) Start watching any other channel
3) Press up arrow on keyboard to get "Now Playing" list

The list only shows the "highest" of the ATSC sub-channels (or whatever the appropriate terminology is). The list starts with channel 4.3, then 6.3, 10.2, 18.1, 19.2, 28.2, 34.3, 51.5, and 53.3. It should show 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 10.1, 10.2, 18.1, 19.1, 19.2, 28.1, 28.2, 34.1, 34.2, 34.3, 51.1, 51.2, 51.3, 51.4, 51.5, 53.1, 53.2, and 53.3.

The list shows correctly if a recording is not in progress.

Can't get web server to stream
Posted by: davestr - 2016-01-03, 01:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

The Nextpvr web server is refusing to stream to clients.
I can log on to the server via a web browser and see the EPG, but cannot stream a channel.
Also, I tried a newly setup Kodi box and its NextPVR client gets directory/schedule listings ok but will
not stream either.

Some local tests on the the Nextpvr server machine with VLC yield this:

http://44.72.17.7:8866/live?channel=6 fails with error in VLC:

http error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
http error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
access_mms error: error: HTTP/1.1 403 ForbiddenServer: NextPVR
core error: open of `http://44.72.17.7:8866/live?channel=6' failed

However, http://localhost:8866/live?channel=6 works.

Looks like a firewall rule issue, but my rules look ok for the Nextpvr entries, and I also tried it with the firewall disabled to no luck.
Server is running on Windows 7.

Scratching my head.
Any ideas?

Live TV Black Screen (only audio works) on MPEG4 Channels
Posted by: jstplace - 2016-01-02, 03:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

I'm unable to watch the video portion of live tv (using NPVR App UI) on any of the channels that use MPEG4. I can hear the audio (AC3) and I can record the channel and play it back perfectly, but I only see a black screen while watching live TV.

Note that I'm able to watch the live stream in VLC without a problem.

Log file attached.

Any suggestions?

Software:
Windows 10
NextPVR 3.6.6
Unlocked SAF Decoder (this happens with Cyberlink as well as LAV)
Video Renderer: EVR (this also happens with the other options)

Tuner Hardware:
HDHomeRun Prime (I've tried BDA Compatibility Mode of "Default" as well as "Media Portal")

Provider:
Comcast Chicago Digital Cable

Example (using info from Codec screen in VLC):
CNN HD (NOT Working)
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )

Discovery HD (Working)
Codec: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv)
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )
