Im new getting into this PVR thing. Ive seen where people have to use a USB-UIRT to get channels from their cable box without haveing to use the cable box remote. What I want to know is if I could use a serial cable (I saw this on another site) to change the channels on my box. Does Gp-PVR support it?

Another question. When using the MediaWVP can you playback DVD's throught GB-PVR smoothly?

One more nonrelated to GP-PVR, but does the MediaMVP help with picture quality on sdtv's?

GB-PVR doesn't directly support serial cable channel changing. It does support USB-UIRT and Actisys IR200L, which are both IR blasters. It also has a Girder channel changer and .exe channel changer. Either of these could be used to change channels via a serial cable, but both will require you to use third party software for the actual process of change channels.

You cant play DVDs on your MVP. Well....you can only play DVD movies on an MVP if you first rip them to a standard MPEG2 video with stereo audio (MPEG1 Layer 2) track.

Sorry - I dont understand the question. The MVP produces a picture that looks great on a standard definition television.

So medai MVP cant play Dolby Digital? If I put a DVD into my computer, I cant have to option throught GP-PVR on MedaiaMVP to watch it?

If this is the case, id rater not purchase a Media MVP is their any device that would transfur a good picture on a SDTV, my regular vid card with s-vid out has like ghosting on it that I cant get rid of. I would like the clearest picture I could get without buying a HDTV.

Nope.

No, not this stage.

The MVP is great device, but just was not intended for DVD playback or DD sound. You might be better suited with a PC if you want this degree of flexibility.

The MVP has much better playback quality than any regular video card I've seen. Similar in quality to the XCard and PVR350.
