I'm not sure if this should be here, or under the Wishlist forum.
I've been playing around with GB-PVR on my laptop (no tuning capabilities, but I wanted to see how the UI was before deciding to dump MythTV and going with GB-PVR), and thus far, I like what I see. I'm busy for the next week or so, but after that, I'll do a hard drive swap and install Windows and GB-PVR. It also gets high marks from a friend of mine who is pretty picky too, so it must be pretty good.
Anyway... I have a situation that I suspect may not be unique (though it might be). The apartment complex where I live provides their own cable services. They are listed in Zap2It, and I can retrieve the listings, both with GB-PVR and MythTV. But, there is one catch - they at some point changed their channel lineup, and the listings at Zap2It don't reflect it.
When I say that they changed their channel lineup, what I mean is that they kept the same channels, but changed the feed. The programs for the cable provider, with the exception of the local channels (and maybe even the local channels) come in from DirecTV - most of them (except the local channels) are in the Eastern timezone (I'm in California, so Pacific here). This is not a problem for me (that's why I run PVR software, to record my stuff), but what is a problem is that the listings for some of the channels are three hours off - the listings are for the Pacific feed, but they show the Eastern feed (so the shows are on three hours before the listings say they are). This is not the case for all channels - maybe about 10 of them, but it means that I have a few recording profiles scheduled by time, rather than the guide listings. This is a real pain, especially if I miscalculate the time.
Is there any way (or will there be any way) to take the DataDirect listings and offset selected channels by a time offset? This would fix my problem. MythTV doesn't currently do this in the stable version, but I think that the development version does - I haven't tried it, and really, with all of the quirks of the hardware in Linux and such, although I'm quite comfortable with it, I'd like to simplify my life by going to a Windows solution.
I've contacted Zap2It, and received an encouraging response from them initially, but they haven't taken any action (this was a month ago that I requested their assistance). My cable provider isn't helping any either.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Or am I looking at developing a plug-in?
Thanks,
Joe
