Hello,
I installed this program the other day and think it looks to be a first class pvr.

I however, have problems recording, not just with this program but it seems, all pvrs. The problem is: whenever recording fast moving video, like sports, I get the halo pixels around everything. I used to use a software, non-hardware encoding card and thought that was my problem. But now I have the Hauppauge PVR150 and still the recorded video is disappointing. I have tried different interlacing settings with no real difference. It doesn't matter whether I choose 2mbs or 6, same result.

Maybe it's my source? I am using standard time warner cable plugged directly into the card, it's not great but not terrible either. It's not like the sattlite I used to have but the stations are pretty clear.

Is there anyway to perform some kind of processing to remove noise/interlacing that makes a recorded football game very hard to watch.

I have the cyberlink and intervideo, along with the intervideo that came with the card codecs. I think I also have mainconcept.

I guess what I don't understand is why can't pvrs just record what's there, I mean an exact copy of what the tuner is putting out without all the pixel artifacts and blurred smears when the camera pans quickly or a car comes by?

The only real functional problem I had was loosing audio in timeshifting mode. I would reverse a couple times and all of the sudden audio would go away or it would get stuck in fast reverse or forward.

I have tried reinstalling drivers/updating drivers to no avail. If anyone could help me be able to record watchable football games I would surly appreciate it.

My setup is:

P4 3.2g
ram - 1g
video - fx5200
HD 800g total
OS Winxp Pro Sp2

Really appreciate the program!

Sports is hard. But I am under the impression that it is not the recording that gets bad, it's the playback of the recording. If you had a hardware decoder it would probably be a bit better. Try burning a DVD from your recording and play it in your stand alone DVD player, and I think you'd see a difference.

I have been watching video on a projection screen sony 50". It has a setting for interlaced or progressive. I switched it to interlaced and it fixed most of the edges I was seeing. I understand, after some reading, that I really only need to remove interlacing if I'm watching on a computer monitor or LCD TV, not sure about a plasma?

Another question, Using the PVR150, all the remote control functions work except power. I have to manually start the GBPVR program to get it up, even with the IR winttv remote controller running. IS there a way to make the remote controller start the program?

Power on by remote has been discussed several times. Try a search here in the forums. Get back to us if you can't find it and I, or someone else, will try to locate it for you.
