i have a PVR 150 and am using 23297 drivers. have never come across this problem but i have also always been using some registry hacks to turn off the auto audio gain control and set the audio levels to prevent clipping. there are lots of discussions about these issues around but to my knowledge not related to "machine gun" sound. it is a long shot but disabling the AGC can't hurt. it is the 8775Reg17 setting below. the other two set the left/right input levels.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcwPP2\DriverData]
"HcwSaveEncoderSettings"=dword:00000001
"8775Reg17"=dword:0000008e
"8775Reg14"=dword:000000a7
"8775Reg15"=dword:000000a7

according to the driver release notes, those 23297 bad boys are dated 10/24/05.

Further info on the machine gun! I have recorded about 14 progs with no problem. But, I have just rebooted my machine while it was recording and that recording has the machine gun. I will do some more checking but if others could test this it would be good, too.

Cheers.

Sorry to start this up again but I have had a pretty good run lately till the last two days when 3 out of 4 recordings have developed the machine gun sound again. Result, of course, is that I don't have a PVR again.

Sub, you were going to ask your Hauppauge contacts about this. Did you get any reply?

I will try another dvr (currently using 23258) but out of the 11 dvrs I have here, only three work - there lies another problem I am frustrated with.

How about the others with this problem? Any solutions out there??

Whatever problem causes that cant be very common, or we'd here lots more about it. Have you had a good look at other things in your machine to try to see if it is some sort of conflict occuring? e.g. shared IRQ or similar? Maybe updated motherboard chipset drivers.

No IRQ contention with card - only device on IRQ17. Virtually everything has been changed since I first reported this problem. New box, mobo, video, CPU, RAM, and new XP/sware installations.

Maybe this replacement 150 has problems, also. Whether the fact that it will only do vid/aud with a ltd number of dvr versions has anything to do with it I don't know.

I've had a similar problem-

I had an early 2005 PVR150 card and installed all the stuff from May 2005 (gbPVR and Hauppauge) and everything worked great PVRwise. I was scared to update, so I sat tight.

I eventually added a second (fall 2005) PVR150 card (eventually correctly) and did no more updates and enjoyed the luxury of no conflict recordings.

Then, about Christmastime, my second card started recording no audio on about half my recordings. Really unpredictable. Also USA Cable channels 2, 3, 4, and 5 video was messed up even on Live TV (and recordings) with no sound.

Today I finally took the plunge. Yanked one card, updated everything gbPVR and all Hauppauge (57? 58? drivers) programs. No betas. One card fine. Added the second, then 2, 3, 4, and 5 were immediately messed again videowise. WinTV shows no problem whatsoever.

Funny things just went weird in December for no apparent reason on a rig that does nothing but PVR - no online surfing at all.

I'll swap cards tonight just to see if the one card is messed and subsequently messing with the first card and report back...

This is not the same problem at all. I suggest you will have a better chance of getting help if you start a new thread.
