I went off on a business trip Sunday, returned today (Thu) to see if my new found wonder (GB-PVR) was able to record the shows I'd programmed.

Well, the good news is, all the shows recorded - 14 in all.  The bad news is, the start/stop time of the FIRST show in the series did not follow the '3 minutes pre-show' and the '3 minutes post-show' that I programmed.  BUT ... all the other shows in the sequence did.

Here's what I setup:
I'm using my cable box to tune so simply used 'manual record' to record the shows.  The 30 minute shows I wanted are on at 9am, 10am, 11:30am, and 6pm, all on the same channel.
Entered a start time of 9:00am, end time 9:30am. Chose 'all episodes in this timeslot'.  Then setup another recording, entered a start time of 10am, end time 10:30am ... and so on.

When I reviewed the shows, all the shows for the first day were 'exactly' 30 minutes long, while all the shows from the second, third, and fourth days were 36 minutes long.

When I go to the 'recording' menu, all the shows are listed with the 30 minute duration (that is, they all say similar to 9:00am-9:30am).  When I double-click the first entry, it says similar to 'start time: ...09:00:06 AM ... end time: ...09:30:06 AM.  The second entry says 'start time: ...10:00:25 AM ... end time: ...10:30:25 AM.  And so on.  (These entries conrrespond to the first occurrence of each show).

When I go to the 'second occurrence' of the 9:00 am timeslot show, it still says   'start time: ...09:00:06 AM ... end time: ...09:30:06 AM'.  And the second occurrence of the 10am timeslot show still says 'start time: ...10:00:25 AM ... end time: ...10:30:25 AM'.  But when I click 'play', the duration on the first shows is 00:30:02, but the second occurrences are all 00:36:04.

The actual file sizes also confirm the duration differences.

So in summary - the main 'Recordings' screen reflect the 'nominal' (30 min) durations, and the second screen (when you double-click on an entry) also reflects the nominal 30 min duration, but the actual player screen (the overlay that appears when you move the mouse) reflects the actual duration.

Rather than proliferate posts, I'll add a slightly related problem to this existing post. The main topic is currently much more important to me, but I'd like to resolve this one too!

I set up everything for 'Zap2it' program guide, and now have the guide downloading each day, and all seems well. EXCEPT ... when I go into the Guide in GB-PVR, everything is off by 1 hour. I live in California, which is timezone -0800 Pacific Time. I set the timezone in Zap2it Configuration to "-0800 Pacific Standard" at first, but noticed this problem, so then changed it to "-0700 Mountain Standard or Pacific Daylight", assuming this would correct it, but ... even 4 days after making the change, the times are still one hour 'off' in the guide. (specifically, a show that starts at 9am shows in the guide as starting at 8am).

Any thoughts on this?

While verifying the details of this post, I double-checked that I also have set the 'Recording padding' appropriately, to 3 minutes pre-show and 3 minutes post-show, relating to my first post.

If you are in a state that observes daylight-savings time you have to manually adjust for it. For example I live in Ohio -0500 Eastern time, but since we observe daylight saving I had to set Zap2It to -0400. The Sub is aware of this problem and will have GBPVR adjust the Zap2It data since they use non-adjusted GMT.
Keep in mind when you make this time adjustment you must empty the Zip2It data and reload it new with the new time setting.

Daylight-Savings ends October 24th. [Image: tounge.gif]

Thanks ... I found this post which tells me pretty much the same (sorry, should have searched harder first time!!!Wink.

Since re-loading the zap2it data is a >1 hour process, at 100% CPU, I was hoping to avoid this (with over 300 channels on my cable system, the download is a killer). I know I can de-select channels, but as of now, I don't know what half of them are and don't want to deselect a channel that may someday show something I may want to watch!Wink.

Note ... I noticed this problem last Sunday, and made the correction to my local timezone as you mention on Sunday.  I kinda assumed that, if I waited long enough, the zap2it data would be correct on a going-forward basis.  I'll empty and re-download ... again ... Wink

So has anyone else seen the symptoms I posted at the start of this thread? I just scheduled some more manual recordings, and sure enough, the same situation occurred. That is - the FIRST occurrence of a reoccurring manual recording does NOT take into account the 'pre-show' and 'post-show' extra minutes; that is, a show scheduled for 9:00-9:30 actually records from 9:00-9:30; but all SUBSEQUENT occurrences record from 8:57-9:33 (I have 3 minutes pre-show and 3 minutes post-show setup).

My current work-around is to start the recording at 8:50, and end it at 9:40, but that's giving me an extra 10 minutes either side of the recording.

Failing a solution to this, is there a way to set the start time in increments of less than 10 minutes (ignoring the pre-/post-show minutes)?
