My reply was actually to fradav4's question.

v0.95 does remember the last aspect ratio. Its stored in the registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastAspectRatio

Cool - sorry.

Registry is a scary place. I'll not tamper there. Cheers!

Great, thanks for the info! Basically I've been trying to watch 720p (16:9) resolution on my LCD monitor. I wanted the black bars to remain on top and bottom to see the videos in wide screen. I guess I'm confused, I believed the aspect ratio of a standard LCD monitor was 4:3 but when I use AspectRatio2 it stretches the video vertically quite a bit. (Maybe 720p isn't 16:9?)

1280/720 = 1.77778 | 16/9 = 1.77778 (Hmm, 720p IS 16:9)

<AspectRatio2>0,0.125,1,0.875</AspectRatio2>

I am running my LCD montior at 1280x1024 and since the resolution of a 720p video is 1280x720 I left the horizontal numbers alone (0,1) and changed the vertical numbers to ((1 - (720/1024))/2) = 0.1484375. So that gave me a starting point of 0.1484375 for the bottom of my video and a top point of (1 - 0.1484375) = 0.8515625. So my final ratio setting is:

<AspectRatio0>0,0.1484375,1,0.8515625</AspectRatio0>

Am I making this a lot more difficult than it should be? Is this the correct aspect ratio to run on an LCD montior for a 720p video? If it is, and I shoot the video over to my TV, should I use this new aspect ratio, or should I use the default <AspectRatio2>? Thanks to anyone willing to take the time to help me out.

Only if they are square pixels! Rolleyes

Prehaps you should also also compare the physical ratio.

Sub - checked out this regisrty area but there dosent seem to be a "last aspect ratio" entry?

Are you using VMR9? If so, this setting is normally created when you toggle aspect ratios using the F7 key.

No, I was using VRM7 which of coures still allows f7 ratio changes. When I changed to VRM9 I saw the registry entry appear.

And now on VRM9 it seems to be remembering. Great!

I had only selected VRM7 becuse I believed it was a little less taxing on the CPU/graphics?

Should it work on VRM7 also?

I just forgot to add it for VMR7. I've included it for the next release.

Maybe. Thats the first time I've seen in mentioned though.
