I reside in the USA, and a quite a while back when I first started using GB-PVR, I was only getting about 2 days worth of programming schedules using Zap2It. So, I figured out the XMLTV plugin, got all that squared away, and was then getting something close to 10 days (at least a week).

Is there a reason why I should be using Zap2It instead of the XMLTV plugin? I know that the XMLTV plugin is really just using Zap2It, but in the newer versions of GB-PVR is Zap2It faster than XMLTV? My scheduled updates are rather slow and heavily bog down my computer during the update. My cable provider only has like 75 channels, so it's not like I'm downloading hundreds.

I've never use the zap2it XMLTV grabber, so I dont really have anything to compare. I'd probably use zap2it directly, instead of via xmltv, but its up to you really. One thing to note though, I recommend recreating your capture source rather than just changing the EPG source if you decide to do this - otherwise there can be some difficulties.

I'd use the built-in zap2it functionality in GBPVR. I've never had a problem with it and ever since Sub made the number of days configurable, it really is convenient. Less setup, better reliability in my experience.

Yeah, I've been noticing people discussing improvements to Zap2It in GB-PVR after the last few releases. I figured it might be time to revisit the Zap2It option instead of the XMLTV plugin.

So. If I recreate my capture sources, will I lose my scheduled recordings? It's not a big deal if I mess up the recordings database (the files will still be there and I can just view them via Video Library instead), but I really don't want to lose the schedule if I don't have to. Is the solution to do something with the Export/Import Recordings function?

Also, I have three tuners (PVR500 and PVR150). Is there anything special that I need to do? I know that with XMLTV I just pointed all the capture sources to the same guide.xml file. I'm not going to end up downloading the guide three times (for each tuner) if I switch to Zap2It now, am I?

Before I come up with more questions -- is this documented somewhere? Please don't read this as me implying that it should be or anything of the sort. I just don't want to bother anyone with questions that are already answered. I've searched the forums, but can't really find anything related to my specific situation (three tuners, switching from XMLTV plugin to Zap2It, etc.).

If nothing else, I'm getting good regular backups of my GB-PVR install, so I'll always have something to fall back to if I just totally screw it up.
