I think I found it from byopvr after trying out MythTV, Meedio and beyond for 3 months - then decided anything with .net plugins must be fun.

It wasn't until this thread that I really though about how may forks the road had.

I was aware of PVR devices like the Topfield and wanted one when a friend told me about how the new xbox was part of Bill's plan to take over everything we did by offering media centre functions.

I was going to buy a second hand chipped xbox and launch into xbmc but was concerned about flexibility and decided against it. Not really a gamer either.

I was about to start down the path of Windows MCE, when I heard about MythTV. But was put off by Linux. (cryptic syntax - hate, hate, hate - i.e. don't understand Linux  )

Looked in to Medio briefly...

But I Googled for some alternatives.....and here I am. Big Grin

Topfield > Xbox360 > xbmc > mce > MythTV > Medio > GBPVR

Yeah i tried Linux and Myth (even KnoppMyth baffled me!) a few windows apps and then saw GBPVR thinking it would be more specific to the UK....! lol

Realised how good the support was and never looked back
