I'm a fan of the CSI series and I've recently just noticed that it was not recording my favorite program anymore. For some reason, in the EPG, it used to be called CSI , now it is called C.S.I. . The scheduler did not pick it up and therefore did not record the show. This is the basic difference bewteen a human programming a VCR and a computer doing it. I would not even conciously notice the difference in spelling but a computer is too 'dumb' for this sort of thing. Is there anything that can be done about his 'error' ?

I have also noticed that if a show contains capitals where it did not contain them before it DOES record it e.g. CSI recording csi wil also record, the difference is that the resulting .mpg file will go into a seperate subdirectory which can be a nuisance.

There are 3 different ones on top of that, so you'd have to consider what the limits are to thinking outside the box like that.

I just had the same thing happen w/ Ghost in the Shell (they added the subtitle to the end). I didn't expect it to be caught for me, because it could have easily also been a whole different show (eg, like one of the law & orders).

It would be a stretch to make good guessing like that, but clever if it could be turned on like a "go ahead and give it a shot" thing. Frankly, I don't know that even Tivo does that.

Yes this is normal. Season recordings are based on the show name. If the show name is different, then as far as the software is concerned, the show is different.
