Cable TV noob Question

I am at a loss here. I want to use gbpvr with my cable system, and NOT use the cablebox (it sucks). Is there a tuner card that that receives "digital cable" (in other words channels above 125?) Is this the same as DVB?

No, unfortunately there is no solution for receiving digital cable in the US that does not involve using a cable box. Sorry.

You do know that you can use something like the usb-uirt to change channels on the box? But maye that's not what you want to solve... I assume that when you write that your box sucks, you might be having other issues =)
