ATI 650 on cable -- QAM OK, no analog

I have searched the forum with no luck.

I am running GB-PVR 1.4.7 using a CableTV source. I cannot see analog on my ATI 650 using GB-PVR. TuningAssistant.exe shows all analog channels. GB-PVR shows the Clear QAM.

I have attached my logs. All suggestions appreciated.

It's hard to tell from your logs what you have done so far; I see plenty about your digital tuner, but nothing about your analog tuner. Have you defined the analog capture source and enabled the channels?

It's a little old so you may not see exactly the same thing, but not much has changed on the config side of GB-PVR.

Thank you for working on this. I have attached screenshots of my configuration screens. My analog looks pretty much the same as http://www.epgtools.com/GB-PVR/Analog/

Also, I tried analog alone and also tried making analog device 1 with QAM device 2 and the reversed it to analog device 2 and QAM as device 1. Now they are both set to device 1.

what happens if you check the box that says "Only show devices detected in this machine"... does it still show the ATI Theater 650 Pro? If not, what choices does it give?

edit: also, I'm not sure it's a good idea to give both tuners the same name... I'm not sure it matters, but I've never done that.

Originally I gave them two different names: ATI 650 Analog and ATI 650 QAM. Set them to same name as something to try after browsing the forums, like switching then duplicating the device numbers.

Forgot to tic it for the screen shots. Normally I do check the "Only show devices detected in this machine" box and it shows three card choices:

ATI Theater 550 Pro
ATI Theater 650 Pro
ATI TV Wonder Elite

I have never tried anything but the 650 because that is what I have. However that gives me something else to try. Time to start messing again.

what os? in xp those need a certain driver version to work simultaneously...[the one that came with cat 8.11 around dec.08]
i used the one that came with my card..
they both should be set to 650 type, is it pci or pcie or usb?
pci 650 is only single tuner at a time, the rest are dual tuner..

Go ahead and run the Filtercheck program in the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log.

edit: also, what exactly happens when you try to watch live tv on an analog channel?

something is missing... your analog card has no mpeg-2 output. I thought all 650's had a hardware encoder, but perhaps they don't. Either that or you don't have the drivers installed correctly.

edit: i guess it's all the 650's sold by ATI *now* that have hardware encoders; older 650's and those sold by other board makers may or may not have hardware encoders. you're probably out of luck, as GB-PVR requires a hardware encoder.

XP SP3 -- 650 pcie

Not sure what driver I am running -- how do I check? I cannot find the card in ControlPanel -> System -> Device Manager to look.
