My 10:00 epg update failed with a 500 error from zap2it, looks like they're down again...bummer. Sub, is the next release going to have logic to only empty the epg database after it gets the update instead of before? Short term I'll set it to not do a complete reload. Still trying to break this release without any luck Big Grin

That is already how it works. An earlier version of v0.95 behaved the way you describe, but not the latest v0.95.16 release.

In my latest survey on zap2it, the last question wasn't a question. It was a request from zap2it to change our downloads outside of the 00:00 -> 09:00 AM US central time window, as they recognize that their servers are saturated during that time, and have a very light load outside of that window
Try picking a time like 4PM US central

Hmmm...my epg is currently empty so I assumed it unloaded then got the 500 error. I had it set to 10:00am and have changed it to 14:00 so hopefully it will update this afternoon.

I have been seeing these 500 errors for several days now it seems. I've set it to try at 1pm, using the suggestion in this thread, so I'll see though I am not confident since manual attempts early evening also failed.

Would it be better for GBPVR to allow us to set times other than on the hour to avoid grouping update requests? Does GBPVR retry again the same day if an attempt fails?

Do we have a zap2it alternative in the US? I wouldn't mind paying $15-$20 a year for a service that is solid and provides detailed information. (Oh yes, since I'd be paying, I'd like to set triggers to alert me when movies I am looking for show up in the schedule.)

Oops.... wait. I logged onto the labs.zap2it.com site and found out that my subscription had expired due to a change in my email address. Doh... So the lesson is to 'check your configuration' for a surprise... ;-)

Updating my email address was what made it finally work me. The epg update is much faster in the latest gbpvr version.

you will need to re-activate your zap2it every 3 months. You don't need to change your email, just answer some questions to get another 3 months.

I did update my account a few weeks ago and could log in. However, it wouldn't work in gbpvr until I changed my email address.
