Having recently picked up an MVP for the bedroom, i've spent the last few days mucking around with various settings and have got everything working using Mpeg. However, my main GBPVR server has always been much happier with DVR-MS recording and while I can watch DVR-MS files very nicely on the MVP any attempt at live TV results in a reboot.

I don't quite understand this as surely the live tv is just a 'timeshift' and therefore simply playing back a recording. Any increase/decrease in the live TV delay also makes no difference.

I just wanted to confirm that Live TV on the MVP using DVR-MS is possible before devoting precious time to solving it. If so any ideas are very welcome.

I've been using GBPVR for some time and i'm constantly amazed by what it is capable of. The MVP support is a real ace up the sleeve - I can't believe I didn't buy one months ago!!

Regardless of whether I solve this one or not, GBPVR running with an MVP is simply the coolest thing i've seen in ages. We don't say this nearly enough but Thank you for the continued hard work Sub. Smile

No, you cant use DVR-MS for timeshift on the MVP. The MVP cannot natively play this type of file, so it needs to be transcoded to MPG format first. This cannot be done on a DVR-MS file while it is still recording.

So is there any combination that would work with say a Nova-T-USB2?

If I understand correctly, trans2mvp is only used if non-mpeg recording is occurring so if I'm using something like SS why can I not play that on my MVP? Is there a multiplexer that the MVP can play natively?

Sorry, bit of a lazy newbie question and I'm sure the answer is in the forum somewhere...

Thanks,
C.

Both the Cyberlink and SS mux record to a regular .mpg file, so can be used for live tv on the mvp.

I just realised quite how dumb I am! I was getting no video as I was using the MVP in NTSC mode! This wasn't obvious until I tried playback using Hauppauge's MVPserver which told me that playback of PAL is not possible in NTSC mode - doh!
