How do I sort out the overlap that happens with recordings?

I have my setup to be pre 5mins and post 25 minutes. but when a show happend immediately after another on a different channel, GBPVR uses the same TV card - why does it not choose teh second card to do the second show?

We have lost the end of lots of shows becuase of that. Is there a fix?

It should work. I am using two PVR500 MCE dual tuner cards and have no trouble recording 4 shows at the same time or overlapping shows. If there is an overlap due to padding a second tuner takes over and records the next program. I set 30 minutes padding for all my recordings.

I had a similar problem to yours. When I first setup GBPVR I found that only tuner 1 was working. It was a configuration error. My mistake was using Capture Device #1 for both tuner 1 and tuner 2.

Check your Capture Device # for each tuner. Eg. Capture Device #1 for your first tuner and Capture Device #2 for your second tuner.

I have a crude howto here on configuring the Hauppauge PVR500 MCE for 4 tuner operation. These are my notes so I dont forget the next time I set up GBPVR. I hope it helps.

Q. Were you ever able to record 2 different shows at the same time slot but on different channels without the padding?

My system records perfectly - I can record two things at the same time, or a staggered starts - it just sometimes goes a bit funny when one starts and another ends at the same time
