two different problems... I had everything full functioning for about one or two days when I bought a wireless ethernet card and a new heatsink. I installed these and ever since then have not been able to use my Hauppauge remote (PVR150) or receive sound when watching Live TV. (All of the new recordings are also soundless.) I have tried uninstalling Hauppauge drivers and reinstalling them. I tried uninstalling EVERYTHING and reinstalling GBPVR even. Still no sound. I don't know what to do.

As for the remote, I have "fixed hauppauge remote settings (45 button)". AFTER installing the new hardware I began receiving a "failed to initialize infrared remote hardware" error message which wouldn't allow me to start ir.exe. After reading a little bit I realized that if I am not intending to use the remote for anything other than GBPVR I do not even need to have ir.exe so I uninstalled all of that. Well the remote still doesn't work.

If anyone can help with either or both of these problems I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried playing the recordings back on another machine to be sure they have no sound? or at least confirmed existing recordings or MPEG2 files have sounds?

I had seen some comments about users losing sound on all channels with some specific versions of the drivers. It might be worth trying a different version.

You do need IR.EXE working if you have a 45 button remote. You'll need to reinstall it, and sort out why the drivers werent letting you use this hardware.

yes, the computer has sound and all of the old recordings have sound. I have tried updating the drivers and still nothing. Are there other drivers I should try than are on the Hauppauge website?

Thanks for the note about the remote. It's still not working but right now I am much more worried about the whole lack of sound deal...

Sounds like a hardware problem to me.

Im not a technician but both your problems **could be** related to hardware on your pci card. Remote gets to the PC via the tuner card and the sound get to the PC via the tuner card (obviously) and if youve wiped the PC and rebuilt it and still nothing on new recordings that would suggest to me that the softwares ok but the hardwares not.

Having said that, it sounds like it sorta does work or you'd get nothing at all. Maybe you dislodged the tuner card when you were sticking the other bits in? or the heatsink has changed the airflow in your system and your tuner cards now overheating or something like that?

Im just throwing ideas out but if i had that problem id first try taking the pci card out, cleaning your PCs innards of dust and make sure your pci slot is clean, put the tuner back and try, and then if that doesnt work try taking the wireless card out and see what happens...

might work, might not...

I think I figured out the sound part of this problem. I believe what happened is that I pressed the "mute" button on the remote while it was working and when the remote stopped working I couldn't un-mute it.

I had the PVR working perfectly last night when all of a sudden the remote stopped working again. This time I was in the middle of using it and the remote just decided to stop. Tried new batteries and everything. No idea what my deal is with IR on this thing. I can also only get Ir.exe to run by comepletely rebooting the system. If I try to Restart IR I ALWAYS get the "failed to initialize remote hardware" error. However, when I reboot the system, while it may allow Ir.exe to run it still does not guarantee that the remote will work as I am still having problems!!

Maybe you should try asking Hauppauge support?
