Hi,

I have a Hauppauge 150MCE with Mediacenter remote, Irblaster and fm tuner. Is it me or is the Irblaster not always working as when I try to use it with my sky box sometimes it doesn't transmit all the numbers if changing channels for instance! Or is the Irblaster just a bit rubbish! Sad Any ideas?

i think theres a timing issue with the sky box and the MCE blaster, see here for details

I wish 'that' was my only problem with the MCE blaster setup.. I bought the MCE Kit.( my blaster plugs in behind the ir receiver (usb receiver)) I can't seem to get XP to find it. I get the error 'could not find ir hardware' when I try to run the blaster config that came on the supplyed CD. I dont run MCE I run XP pro. If I could get the ir working, I could then set it up with Girder, or Hip. Am I missing a step here in the install of this hardware or what? None of the threads speek of my problem/here or on other forums that I can find...as for now, everything eles works great, Card was a snap to set up and the remote works too! Any one eles have this problem with the MCE blaster..

(sorry If I hijacked the thread...looked like it wa done..)

Cheers!

not that im aware of, although i have ntl, not sky so i didnt hunt quite as much as i might have for a solution, just remembered reading it in that thread when i was slapping my ntl box into behavingBig Grin

The developer of hip was discussing with someone about rewriting the drivers to allow you to set the timing of the blaster, maybe he could give you an update, if there is one.

I havnt heard of that before. My MCE remote/blaster was bought seperatly, but i just plugged it in and it autodetected and worked straight off. Never tried to get the blasters working before i moved on to HIP and changed the drivers anyway, but It didnt come with any CDs. Are you sure the stuff you are trying to install isnt for the hauppauge blaster that comes with some of the other hauppauge kit?

Do you have an eHome Infared Receiver listed in your Device manager?

Maybe someone else with the 150MCE can clarify wether hauppauge are being sloppy with their install CDs and youve got software you dont need there.

im probably wrong though, wouldnt be first time! Big Grin

The set up I have is the win150 MCE media kit. I do have 'eHome Infared Receiver' listed in my Device Manager, witch is right because the remote works.... thats what is confusing me.. The Remote blaster plugs into the IR reciever for the remote, so why can it not be found?? the remote works fine, you would think the blaster would too. I wounder if MCE (OS) has a few more built in '.dll' files or what have you, that XP pro (OS) does'nt have??? This seems to be that last thing I need to do before its up and recording!!

im not sure, but the receiving part worked out of the box for me.

Take a look at this page over at HIP. Noticed you say you intend to use either that or girder anyway. That page details how to replace the eHome driver with another one which opens up the blaster to be taught any command you like via HIP. maybe you should just go straight to this route rather than persevering with the eHome driver.

I have HIP controlling things.. The alternate drivers got the Blaster working for me.. Girder and HIP are 2 programs I seem to fly by the seat of my pants (like most I'm sure) I tend to get things up and running sooner or later. Anyhow, the remote works great with the HIP/Blaster set up. But I have read all the threads about 'Hipsend' and like a few other guys I cant seem to put it all together? I have followed your threads showing how to set it up, but like the other guy, It did not seem to match how you described? basically I cant get GBPVR to change the channel by its self at a scheduled time. I heard there maybe a tutoral being writen on how to do this? If not any help would be great.. ( This is one helpfull forum, coodose to all for the help! )

beer? Dont mind if I do!

Yeah ive started to scribble it down, starting from an empty config file in HIP to a complete setup using the MCE2005 remote and the HIPsend utility. I probably was a bit confusing in that quick how-to i wrote in the other thread. Plus i was writing it when id just got up and a lot of my threads dont make sense to myself when ive written them in the morning and reread them later...Rolleyes

I want to run the guide past the HIP developer and Sub before i release it so they can point out any errors in my methodology or a slicker way of doing things but if/when its done I'll post it on here.
