After formatting Windows and slowly configuring everything, I think I've found the problem! But it's a horrible situation and a catch-22 situation...

Changing the quartz.dll to the 9.0b version to fix the weird playback problems is what causes timeshifting to take forever!

I found this out because everything was fine before changing the quartz.dll, except for that weird playback stuff. So then I changed the quartz, and then the timeshifting problem came back. Now I've restored the regular quartz, and timeshifting works correctly.

So basically, we're stuck Sad I remember reading about some hotfix from Microsoft about quartz.dll, I'll try that next.

But this much is certain: quartz.dll is the EVIL demon that haunts PVRing...

EDIT: I've tried all of the 9.0b versions. seems like as soon as I replace the quartz.dll with *anything* else, the timeshifting problem comes back. i'll try that microsoft thing and report back

The Microsoft hotfix doesn't fix the stuttering problem.. so basically, it doesn't fix anything.

Someone PLEASE find a good solution to this... quartz.dll just loves to haunt us again and again. Did anyone try removing DirectX9.0c completely and then install 9.0b perhaps? (is that even possible using that happy uninstaller, and where would we find the 9.0b setup files)

EDIT: Ok, it seems like switching to VMR7 gets rid of the stuttering problem, at least for me. Strange thing is, the first time I had the stuttering,VMR7 didn't fix it.. quartz is weird...... I'll keep investigating.
