Total time displays wrong on converted MPG's

I'm converting AVI's to MPG. When I play the MPG on GB-PVR everything works fine: I can skip or FF and the total time displays correctly.

However when I play the same file on MVP it shows a total time of 0:00:01 (so just 1 second). It plays well, but I can't skip or use the resume function.

Any suggestions to fix this?

It is my experience that the MVP is a lot pickier in playing MPG's than gbpvr, has to do with the buildin decoder ofcourse. You might try another conversion program, or change some settings. I used GUI4FFMPEG some time ago, afaik it worked ok.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

I spent a ton of time trying to figure this out when I first got my MVP.

The conclusion I came to, was that the MVP doesn't like MPG1 files. It will play them, but I was never able to create an MPG1 file that had proper time information.

Even using MPG2, I found most encoders didn't create files the MVP liked. They'd all play, but lacked time info, thus breaking skip, resume, etc.

My current standard practice is to use Nero Video to create mpeg2 files in SVCD format. These seem to play the most reliably on the MVP. Time is correct, and all features work.

Oddly, mpeg1 files created by Nero don't work though. Thus leading me to my conclusion that the MVP doesn't like mpeg1. I have seen mpeg1 files that played fine with time information, but I've not been able to create one.

I finally did the job using Xilisoft Video Converter. Had to tweak some settings but now I have good quality MPG's and that was the whole idea.

Thanks for your support.
