Some Questions

I haven't paid that much attention to what really goes on, but I think what I've seen is that the Live TV temp file goes along with the current program being viewed on the active channel. So, when the program changes, it tends to start a new file and then delete the old one. I think it starts a new file when you change channels too.

So, if you watch the TV for 5 hours you don't end up with a 5 hour recording, but instead only the most recent program. A sporting event could end up being quite a large recording

Alright Awsome that clears everything up, so theoretically for normal, non-sporting event, viewing I would only need like 1-2 gb free. Well thats all I needed to know, thanks again for the quick responses and I guess I leave you guys alone know

But don't plan on using a disk that only has a couple gig free. That free space will be likely be non-contiguous and highly fragmented, or will get that way pretty quickly if the disk has other activity on it. Playback performance can suffer pretty badly if the videos are highly fragmented

So, you might not need to reserve a whole lot for live tv viewing, but you'll be much happier if you are using a disk that isn't near capacity.
