Well I am trying to enable closed captioning.  I have selected the closed captioning box from the config.exe

I have also modified direct.ini and restarted my machine.

The first few sections of my direct.ini are below.  I use a medium quality recording.

I do not see the closed captioning in playback on my computer.  I am using Intervideo and VMR 9

I have a hauppauge 250 MCE.

Any ideas what I am missing?

[SETUP-Main]
ForceStandard=0 // 0:Auto, 1:NTSC_M, 2:NTSC_M_J ... 16: PAL_B ... etc
ForceMono=0
AudioLang=0
OutputType=14

[SETUP-High Quality]
VideoResolution=0
BitRate=10000
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioCompression=11
OutputType=14

[SETUP-Medium Quality]
VideoResolution=0
BitRate=6000
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioCompression=11
OutputType=14

[SETUP-Low Quality]
VideoResolution=2
BitRate=3500
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioCompression=11
OutputType=14

[SETUP-Custom1 Quality]
VideoResolution=1
BitRate=6000
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioCompression=11
OutputType=14

[SETUP-Custom2 Quality]
VideoResolution=0
BitRate=12000
AudioSampleRate=1
AudioCompression=11
OutputType=14

You don't need the OutputType line under [SETUP-Main]. I don't know if it would cause a problem or not. Check the Misc tab in the config app and see if "Show closed captions" is selected.

Hauppauge CC information isn't compatible with my part of the world, but if you have compatible CC information, it should be being recording it. Basically I tell the drivers to use Stream Type "14" and it takes care of the rest.
