I use ffmpeg to transcode to MVP, and I was wondering if there's any way to have two separate settings for the output. For example...
When I'm playing back widescreen content, I use the params "-padtop 64" and "-padbottom 64" along with an output size of 640x352 in config.xml to provide a final size of 640x480 to the MVP, this way I get the black bars and the sides of the movie are not cut off (there's still a little bit of overscan but much better than default)
However when I play 4:3 content, I have to go back into config.xml and change the settings to 640x480 with no padding otherwise my 4:3 content gets squished and black bars added.
It would be nice if there were two settings, and maybe GB-PVR could prompt you for the aspect of the content when you play an .avi, before it starts ffmpeg. Something similar to the resume prompt on mpeg files, only instead it would ask "is this file 4:3 or 16:9?"
I hope this makes sense, and I hope it's not too difficult to implement, as it would greatly enhance the experience of using GB-PVR with the MVP. There's nothing like having to edit an XML file every time you watch something to remind you that you're using a PC instead of a "true" set-top box.
