Dirtboy, it would be good to know, if this is a gbpvr- or a general problem with the/your card. So no luck with registry settings neiter in WinTV2000 nor WinTVCap?
It would be absurd to normalize the audio as sort of a post-process. Even if it works, you'll loose quality, a lot of time, and you're bound to run into sync-problems by demuxing/muxing and decompressing/recompressing.

Not sure if this is related, but I'm finding that my captures using GB-PVR have very high volume, while my WinTVCap captures have lower, more 'normal' (similar to live TV on my regular TV). As far as I can tell, so far (still investigating), I have the same audio settings between GB-PVR and WinTVCap - that is, 224KHz, 48KHz, etc. Have not yet found an 'application specific' volume adjustment.

Am about to download the latest GB-PVR and see if it makes a difference.

GB-PVR just uses the defaults, so I dont explicitly set any volume level when initiating the recording.

Recording through WinTV2000 has the proper volume, but it has a volume slider too. According to Amontillado on the shspvr forums, the registry settings he has on his site only affect the Hauppauge applications and not the hardware.

I've got the same problem.

Manually tweaking the registry settings works only for the WINTV2000 application but has no bearing on GB-PVR.

Right now, I'm recording a satellite feed through my VCR which has manually adjustable audio input levels. (the satellite receiver's audio can't be adjusted) I find I have to take the audio level down about 6 db in order for GB-PVR to not overmodulate the audio.

So right now, for live TV, I use GBPVR but for digitizing VHS tape, I use the Hauppage application. It works, but it would sure be nice if I could tweak the audio input level so I'd just use GBPVR's manual recording facility for dubbing.

Peter,

Just an idea, but I have 2 custom tasks set up in GB-PVR which use WinCapTV to start, and another to stop recording. This gives me an 'instant' record feature in GB-PVR, and just starts recording the current input. I've limited it to 240 minutes just incase I forget to 'stop' at some point. The volume setting in the WinTVCap.ini file does work, and can be changed without a reboot. This gives me a better sound on the recordings than GBPVR itself (which are also too high/over amped).

You could set up something similar and then you should be able to use GB-PVR to record from tape etc without launching another app.

Hopefully in the mean time Sub will have a chance to look a tweak within GBPVR itself to modify the record settings via whatever method is used within GBPVR.
