- GBPVR 1.4.7
- Windows 7 64 bit
- No codec packs just ffdshow and haali as well as bundled MS decoders (I try to use MS MPEG2 decoder called DTV-DVD video)

When I select a .TS file to play that was from recorded TV, it goes blank for less than a second before going back to the main menu (the root menu). I can play back 1080p .mkv h.264 file no problems.

I tried different video renderers.
Installed ffdshow and told GBPVR to use it for video and audio.
I set haali filter merits to zero in case it interfered with GBPVR

Not sure what else to try

You could try http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_prefe...weaker.htm
"Did you know that Windows 7 uses it’s own DirectShow filters to decode several audio and video formats? If you want to use third party filters then it is not possible without making changes to the registry, which can be quite a hectic process"
When I first used Win7-64, I used the guide here;http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/78749.aspx
to 'take ownership' of the MS decoders and stop them working. Other users said this should not be needed but it was the only way I could get ffdshow used for audio. But using the filter-tweaker linked to above it should be possible to force windows to use the third-party decoders instead of it's own...

Is that path definitely correct?

Yep, I'm 100% sure it is correct. I even tried changing the TV to lowercase and editing the spaces out of the file name just in case it made a difference. But no...

Playing that h.264 .mkv file was over the network and that worked fine. I can play the recorded TV with MPC HC no problems (using haali and MS mpeg2 decoder). It plays with ffdshow in MPC HC too. EVR works in MPC so that seems OK as well. Don't think it is a problem with codec hell especially since you can tell GBPVR what decoders to use. No idea what else it could be

If you copy that file to your C: drive, does it play from the video library?

Use the CutChunk utility to cut 20MB or so off the file, then uploaded it somewhere for me to download and I'll take a look.

I searched for the CutChunk utility but not sure what that is, I couldn't find it. So I just used a standard windows app to split the file up. It still plays fine for me in MPC so should be ok. There is a resolution change and aspect ratio change right near the beginning so should be a good sample.

Here it is... http://www.sendspace.com/file/xzhs02

Ah, sorry - I meant to post a link to CutChunk for you.

Was this recording made by GB-PVR or some other software (or if GB-PVR, then maybe your mux is set to 'full ts' instead of the required 'ts mux')? It definitely looks like it was made by some other software. Its getting confused by the multiple PMTs in the file (13, for channels like ITV1, ITV2, Channel4 etc). GB-PVR recordings only contain the PMT for the channel its recording.

Sorry I thought .ts files were all the same. Just a container for video and audio. Yes it was made from other software, not GBPVR. It is a 'ts mux' recording, not a 'full ts'. I didn't know about all those PMTs in there. Using haali I only get one video stream option, with 2 audio steams (although one seems to be mute).

I was trying to use GBPVR for media player duties and stream the video across the network from the machine that made the recording. I was hoping GBPVR could do a better job because there are couple of issues with MPC and it was not built for purpose. Same with haali as it fails to cope sometimes. From TV signal interference I am guessing.
