Unable to power up LCD.

The default setting in Windows turns off my monitor after 20 minutes of idle time. Problem is the LCD won't turn back on using my remote to control GBPVR. I have to either move the cursor with the mouse or blindly navigate the menu to play a recorded movie.
GBPVR is directly controlling my USB-UIRT. Any suggestion?

This has been discussed earlier around here. Try a search for standby or hibernate and such. Not sure if anyone found a solution, though.

The computer is recording so it's running full speed. Windows just turns off the montor if theres no user activity after 20 minutes by default.

Ok, but it is still the same problem. You used windows power management to turn off the monitor, and GBPVR cannot turn it on again. You will have to ask windows to do that for you. Or disable that particular power management option

Ah... hm... you use the usb-uirt as an input device? I got the impression you only used it as an output device. Either way, over at their forums, there is a thread discussing the possibility to use the USB-UIRT to wake the computer up from standby/hibernate... maybe the same method can be used to turn the screen on again for you?

It's just as I suspect. Here's one of Jon's reply: Unfortunately, this 'problem' has nothing to do with the USB-UIRT, but rather is a function of the combination of the PC's BIOS and Microsoft's power management. This is an issue which affects some PC's which adhere to an old Microsoft recommendation -- if the PC is woke from standby from a modem, lan, or other 'non-user' peripheral (i.e., not mouse or keyboard), the OS will assume that there is no person physically sitting at the PC, and therefore to conserve energy, the PC's monitor output is to remain OFF unless some user activity is detected. This strategy was primarily designed for laptop computers and remote IT management. -Jon ---------------- Now all I have to do is figure out a way to fool Windows into thinking someone really is sitting behind the computer. |
