Well, you can setup a networked GBPVR client that lets you do what you're talking about for live TV (go to the wiki at http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki and choose "PC Client" on the left), but you really need to be on a LAN for this to work well.

If you want to stream your recordings, you can use the webStreamer plugin (look in the Community Announcements forum for a thread on that)

Welcome to gbpvr!

1. This is your best hope to a controlable client - long thread.....

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=client

This may not work perfectly over wireless, I'm not sure.

2. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=13481

very new and not finished yet, though it does work if you get the correct settings.

can work well over wireless. browser window very small, external player lacks FF/RW control. Hopefully a proper release soon as this will be the nuts.

3. Depends on your capture card. If you have an s-video/composite input, create this as a seperate capture device in the config. You can then setup a manual recording to capture vhs to disk. tip:- setup a manual recording for 10mins in past and recording will start virtually immediately. Then hit play on the vhs machine.

There is no built in support for network clients (other than MVPs). Your only chance is the hacks listed above.

its pretty much impossible to have ff/rw control in an external player, since what you're viewing is a live stream.. and you cant ff a live stream, for instance Smile

but what i think i'll do as a workaround is have a small window show up with just the ff/rw controls and an option to manually enter a seek position.. that would be the only way to have ff/rw capability and still use an external player.

thats what ive been tinkering with lately, im hoping to release a new build soon.. ive just got some personal issues on my plate i gotta attend to first...

thnks guys, i'll start checking all ur links and start playing w/it after a week (very busy)
but i will keep u guys inform on my progress and will definetly need more help later on.

ff/rw will be good, but the control i'm looking for now that will be good enough are:
change channel on pc2 over streaming tv from pc1
play/pause on pc2 over streaming video (dvd/avi) from pc1
