Hello All,
I have searched these blogs but cant seem to find someone with the same problems as I...
First, I am using two Hauppauge HVR 2250 internal tuners for a total of 4 analog tuners. I'm using GBPVR 1.4.7 and have updated to the newest Nvidia drivers for an FX 5200 along with the newest drivers for the Hauppauge cards (released in August 9, 09 I believe)
I am able to get all 4 tuners to record something, but PVRX2 gui doesnt ever show the video...will just show the metadata at the bottom of a black screen. I can change channels, just no video. Also, trying to play the recordings from the gui just makes the screen flicker a bit then revert back to the main screen. The .mpg files that are created can be played in VLC.
Any ideas? I tried to be as thorough as possible but if I am missing a key piece of info let me know!
Thanks!

Zip and post your pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log after reproducing the problem.

Also, does live tv work on those channels?

It looks like you dont have an MPEG2 decoder installed. The app needs one to function.

ie, if you look on the playback tab of the config app, I'm guessing you have the MPEG2 decoder set to 'system default' and no other options are listed (and there is no system default because there are no MPEG2 decoders on your system).

Considering that this happens often for newcomers, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to have GB-PVR display something directly on screen indicating there isn't an MPEG2 codec that's available for use. If GB-PVR is able to know something is wrong enough to put it in the log, I suspect it would be able to display that information...

Maybe a future release. (code for "yes, it probably should be doing this, but I dont see me finding the time for this anytime soon")

newbie here.
similar problem here. spent a lot of time trying the guides and still in need of assistance. guessing it'll be sommat obvious.
Selecting "live TV" in PVRX2 has no function.
i get a picture and complete channels list when i set up capture source and for mpeg2 playback
for playback options in the config, i have tried the available options of "system default" "cyberlink video/sp decoder(pdv9)" "main concept(hcw mpeg2 video)" and "microsoft dtv-dvd video decoder"

many thanks for any help.

Your problem is decoders. Its because you havent set up any channels (or because Win7/Vista file protection is hiding the channels from GBPVR):

Quote:2011-01-09 10:42:37.716 ERROR [1] Unexpected error in direct task: GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup the EPG source. Use the 'Update EPG' button to force the system to import the latest set of channel and programme information.
