Has Zap2it committed to providing free listings on an ongoing basis, or will they turn around at some point and begin charging members for the service?

I've not seen anything that makes me think they will start charging. I think a small charge of a couple of bucks a month would be reasonable for good quality data.

XMLTV is always available if they do decide to start charging, and you'd prefer not to pay.

Doesn't XMLTV just pull off of zap2it (in North America, anyway)?

Yes, but I'm sure you'd see a resurrection of the earlier html scrapping XMLTV grabber for North America if they started charging. This sort of information wants to be free.
