Let me preface my question by saying that I am a current Mythtv user looking to switch to a Windows based PVR solution. I am currently using a PVR150 and an Avermedia M179 capture cards. I have both local cable television service and DirecTv.

Can gbpvr handle both video sources if I dedicate one card per source? I've read a bit of the documentation and think I understood that you can use the svideo for one source and the antennae/coax in for a different source. Is that true? If so that is truely amazing.

One last thing: will the IR blaster (IR sender) on the PVR150 work under gbpvr?

Thanks for your time!

dinki, The IR blaster for the pvr150 does work with gbpvr. I am currently using it with my DirectTV STB.

It can not input two sources at the SAME time but you can switch between the sources.

You can record from two sources at the same time if they're not on the same card, i.e. s-video on one and cable on the other.

When you set up the capture source, you specify an epg account for it. For example, for your DirectTV source, you need to set up a zap2it account for it that will give you the DirectTV listing. For the cable, a second zap2it account to get the cable listings. The TV Guide in GB-PVR will put them together. Then when you select a program to record from the epg, it will use the corresponding source. At least that's the way I do it and it seems to work pretty well.

Most excellent.

I understand that you can't record from two inputs on the same card. With that in mind, how about this: I connect my cable tv signal to both the PVR150 and Avermedia M179 via the antennae in (f connector) on each card. On the PVR150 I also connect the DirecTv IRD svideo and audio connections. Now suppose I have two cable programs that I have scheduled to record and both start at the same time. Will gbpvr record both cable programs if the PVR150 isn't being used to record a DirecTv program? What happens if three programs (2 cable, 1 DirecTv) are all scheduled to start at the same time? What happens at that point?

It wont let you schedule a recording it wont be able to make. So if both your cards are scheduled for a cable recording, it wont let you schedule a new recording at the same time on DirecTv.

If these are auto scheduled some time in the future as part of a season recording, one of the recordings would be marked as a conflict, so would not record unless you resolve the conflict.
