I have been running retime, comskip, and comclean in postprocessing.bat. Commercials were removed okay when viewed on the pc, but when I burned the programs to dvd with ulead DVD Movie Factory 3se, I get broken and choppy video after the first cut commercial. I found a previous post saying to set output_mpgtx=1 in the comskip.ini to get a *.bat to eliminate problems with comclean, but how do you get comclean to recognize the *.bat? And is that what would cause problems with the burned dvd?

The .bat file generated actually does the same as comclean, so it will not be a solution.
Better is to use comclean3 that uses mencoder to do the cutting, or comclean 2 that uses cuttermaran
Or to run retime on the output from comclean to ensure a continues timeline.

Erik,

I am a little confused about the retime utility. In the wiki it says to run it at the beginning of postprocessing.bat. Does it actually need to be run twice? Once at the beginning and then at the end? I am going to give comclean3 and mencoder a try. So what would be a typical postprocessing.bat for these programs? Something like retime, comskip, comclean3, mencoder, and retime again? Thanks

You run it before comskip if the input file has timeline errors and you want to use the output of comskip in the player of GBPVR or some other player, so without cutting.

You can run it after cutting with comclean to clean up the timing mess that mpgtx (the cutter used in comclean) has made. No need for retime with comclean2,3 and 4 because these do internally retime, even no need to run before comskip

I am lost. I want to set up postprocessing.bat using comskip, comclean3, and mencoder, but I do not understand everything that needs to happen. I have downloaded comclean3.bat and mencoder_0_0_2.zip off the web. I then extracted comclean3.bat, c2avi.bat, and mencoder.exe to the gbpvr root directory. How do all of these fit together? I think as follows:

comskip %1
call comclean3 %1
start /low /wait c2avi.bat %1

I edited comskip.ini for output_edl=1. Sorry for the questions, but I just am not getting the whole process of what's going on. Thanks

There are at least one very long thread on this forum on cutting and converting with mencoder.
Did you read that thread?
