Well, my cousin and I finally got the HPC built, and ti works fine for music and radio and pictures, but it has a problem with movies. Now I know I am using a GeForce3 Card ad that video playback would be jerky, but I am having a different problem. Whenever I try to play a movie or DVD, the scrren garbles itself. The only way to fix it is to reboot the PC. I took a picture of it:

I don't even know what would cause this, as the card is running cool and is not overclocked. We have the TV Connected with S-Video out of the Card.

It looks like buggy video card drivers to me. Check if there are later drivers available.

Also try switching from VMR to Overlay - it might help.

Hi,

I had that same screen appear - but not within GBPVR. I had re-encoded a film using TMPGenc Plus (MPG to MPG) and after it had finished encoding I went to play it, in both BSplayer and WMP. When I loiaded it on another machine (the HTPC) it worked fine through both BSplayer and GBPVR.

AFter re-installing my MPEG codecs on the encoding machine - it was fine. - strange. Maybe you should try this also.

I changed my rendering engine to overlay, VMR9, VMR7, and none of them worked. They all did the same thing. I tried the video in Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic and they both did the same thing as well. I tried all different types of video (AVI, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV, MOV) and all of them did the same thing. I also have the latest nVidia drivers that were a royal pain to intall. I installed the drivers and upon reboot, it was stuck in 640x480 with 16 colors. I had to manually force the drivers to install on the card and then I finally got my TV Out option (default microsoft drivers didn't even detect a TV Out) as well as 32-bit color back. I am starting to think that this card may just be bugged because it is doing some funky crap with colors when the hard drive reads. All of the colors go from nice and smooth to very low res, defined shades when the hard drive cranks and then back to normal after it is done.

humm - It could be a borked card or it could be the PSU. Also make sure you have the drivers for the motherboard chipset (VIA, SIS, Nforce etc).
