I feel like such a dinosaur. You mean I can't write plug-ins in e-lisp?

With the MSN Messenger help of a m8 who does a lot of Delphi coding, I managed to cobble together a VB6 architecture that simulates something close to the principles of OO (you know abstraction, polymorphism, inheritance *cough*, encapsulation...), so I've got my head around all that pretty much.

I think it may be time to install VS .Net at home and have a play...

Would I be best looking at C# or VB.Net... I see the code for the shutdown plugin was C#. I guess the rest of GBPVR is too eh? I did an evening class in C++ years ago, he he he.

I've actually written a utility to set source channel numbers in gbpvr.mdb based on a selected profile of 3 uk digital TV providers, but who's gonna wanna install a clunky old VB6 app?

You can do it in any .NET language. So you can do it in VB if you are more comfortable, or maybe treat this as a learning experience like some of us (me included [Image: smile.gif] ) and do it in C#. It's up to you.

Subs sample code for the simple weather plugin (available on the plugins page) has examples in C# and VB.

This sort of project is an ideal way to learn isn't it? Gives you a real buzz and incentive.

You know what, I started looking at adding a standby button to the shutdown plugin earlier on, with the help of my MSN buddie who also knows a little .net... He's coming round on Sunday and we're gonna stick VS.Net on my other box.

Trouble is WMI doesn't support standby... so it looks like it's got to be an api call. Can you declare an api function and have it as a method in a c# class?

(Trouble is u have to be artistic with the skin and stuff don't you? not my forte, but the wifes good with photshop and the like...)
