New install on friend's setup went OK for an hour or two then after a mvp lockup the TV now shows a shadowed image offset vertically above the main image. This occurs with the menu screen as well as content screens. The computer display is perfect. We have re-booted everything and plugged the mvp directly into the TV (was into an A/V rcvr) but it is still crook. Anybody seen this sort of thing before? Sort of points to wrong timing signals from the mvp? Unlikely to be a dodgy ethernet cable as it was OK for a while. Tomorrow we are going to swap in my mvp to check that item out but if anyone has any ideas they would be welcome. TIA.

I don't think it's the ethernetcable either, but things allways are ok until they are broken. I hear people say very often:"How can it be defect, it was still ok yesterday".Wink
Only thing I can think of is to have the MVP off the power for a longer time. If I understand you right, you did reload the dongle.bin. I would perhaps try to load another dongle.bin but to be honest I wouldn't know really why.

Thanks, htv. I agree with what you say. Yes, we did reload dongle.bin but I will try another one. Your idea of leaving the mvp switched off for longer is also a good one as I have had to do this to get mine to 'forget' a bad IP no. I will visit my friend tomorrow so will see what transpires. Swapping in my mvp should be educational, too. Good first step in fact!

Well, have good news to report! I visited my friend's site today and swapped in my mvp. Problem went away. We waited about 45 min then plugged his back in. Problem gone - whew!

So, once again, caught out by the fact that those mvp's retain memory for a while. A 'proper' reset needs some time powered off.

Interesting how it could get corrupted like that and what it was really doing.

Yes, an Easter present, htv Smile

I have seen this problem as well with a double vision image. I am not sure what causes it but a hard reset does the trick.

Interesting that you have seen it, too.

I think I have been harbouring a misconception that mvp's need leaving off for a while to 'lose their settings'. I now think my mistake was to not restart the server. Note to self - run config to get a new server instance!
