I'm trying out the latest stable versions (from the Wiki) of My Pictures and My Videos and hitting a few problems.

In My Pictures, there is a setting not to use animations when the plugin starts - if I uncheck this during a session the option is remembered, but after exiting GBPVR and coming back in the option appears checked again.

In My Videos, is there any way to stop it from attempting to look up movie information for a given folder or file? I've got folders with home made video clips, folders with movies split into two files, files that aren't correctly being recognised (recorded TV programs for example) and it is becoming a total chore to use the plugin.

Regards

yeah i think its a bug with the config app, try setting in via the "Settings" plugin. if you're not using any of the other betas from my forum, i suggest you use the my pics 3.1 beta it should fix the problem (it will have issues with the other betas, just because i have updated it in a while).

if you turn off "show info on ok" (or something like that) in the config it should just "play" the file.
in the next version it just brings up the popup menu.

Thanks - I'm using the "settings" button in the My Pictures plugin itself while it is running, there doesn't seem to be anything in the config app that changes it.

I've got My Videos under control now, but I'm still wondering if I can delete some of the wrong info it has pulled out for a few of my files?

Cheers

theres a "Remove from DB" button in the popup menu, you can use that.

In the end I found it easier to blat MyDatabase.mdb and start again. Does the "remove from DB" option just clear the movie information or does it remove the file from the list as well? if it is just the former, perhaps a change of menu text might be in order so it is clearer?

I did experience one other problem you might want to look at if you're doing new versions. I had the virtual root for My Pictures set to a network drive, and the virtual root for My Movies set to a removeable drive. if either drive wasn't available for some reason when starting up GBPVR, the affected plugin doesn't appear in the plugin list. When GBPVR is in this state, coming back out of Live TV always causes an error message.

I solved the problem by adding some local folders to the list for each plugin. However it would be way nicer if the plugin detected that the network/removeable drive isn't mounted and displayed an appropriate icon for the affected folders.

Sorry, one other thing. I'm very interested in the My Messenger Alpha, but there are a couple of things:

1. If the skin folder isn't present in the current skin, the plugin doesn't appear in the GBPVR menu - this isn't ideal for the reasons I mentioned above.

2. It doesn't seem to be compatible with the current MSN version for video conversations or webcam - which version of MSN does it work with?

I like the idea of the SIP video conference plugin that you did (and I do have a SIP account with sipgate.co.uk which I presume I could use with it). How are you handling presence etc. in the plugin? does it have a phone dialpad?

i wont respond to any question about the betas/alpha here, i want to keep all the info in one place (my forum). otherwise ill forget about bug reports, miss questions, etc.

the problem with network drives is well just one of those annoying bugs, i've manually added "dummy" folders to for most of my things with a .link file in them, just to increase the performance of the plugins. if a network is done windows can take awhile to tell you. its just one of those things. i could speed a day or so fixing the issue but, honestly i cant be bothered. i have better things to do. if it ever gets to the point where it really bugs me ill fix it.

i think "remove from db" is pretty clear, its not "delete" its just "remove from db" whats unclear about that?

i didnt intend that to be rude, just trying to keep all the info in one place. there are so many bug reports/suggestions/common questions that get lost of this forum, im just trying to reduce that.
