I am having audio problems when I play back some recordings. So far I have recorded 8 shows, and the problem occurs on 2 of them. I have tried changing audio decoders, but the problem is still there (in the same spots too). The problem is also there when I watch the recordings on windows media player. I'm not sure why it is happening sometimes, but not others. Right now I am using Intervideo NonCSS Video and audio decoders, and the audio renderer is set to "Default Waveout device" (I've tried changing this too). The problem is just a crackling noise for a second, and then it goes away. It happens very often though throughout the episode. My computer is 2.4 GHZ, windows XP home, 1.25 GB ram. Any ideas of what the problem could be? The only thing that I could think of is that some other program was running on my computer when it was recording, and it caused these audio "hiccups" - but I know nothing about this stuff. The video is perfect though...

Do you know for sure if it is a playback or recording problem?

If you're a PVR150 user, there are some known problems that can cause the audio to be missing from a recording. Hauppauge have tried to address these issues in their more recent drivers.

No, I'm not sure if it is a playback or recording issue. I do use the PVR-150. So I should try and download the most recent drivers from hauppauge? It's strange that it works sometimes, but not others.

Yes, but thats what other people have also experienced.

You can download the latest drivers from http://www.shspvr.com/smf

The latest drivers that I found on that website were from January of 2005. They were version: 1.18.21.22301 for the PVR150. The current driver that I have is from Sep. 2005; version: 2.0.35.23258. On hauppauge's website it has version: 2043_24103. Should I download that driver?(the one from hauppauge's website?) It looks to be a bit of a complicated process just to update the driver.

The newest ones on the site I provided the link for were 2.0.43.24108 (April 21 2006 - http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=9821.0), but the 2.0.43.24103 ones from the Hauppauge site are probably just as good.

Hopefully these will resolve the issue for you. Even with these drivers, some people still have audio problems with the PVR150, so I imagine we'll see more hauppauge drivers to continue to chip away at this problem in the near future.

I have loaded the new drivers in, but I don't think it solved the problem. I noticed one trend about it - both recordings that experienced the audio hiccup were from NBC. NBC has the same hiccups when it is playing in Live TV, and they are still there with the new drivers (in Live TV). I checked for duplicate channel listings, because I read somewhere on this forum that it can cause problems, but there are none. I didn't notice it in Live TV before because I don't use that feature. I've now gone through all the channels in Live TV and have noticed that 4 or 5 channels have similar problems. Do you think that this is definitely a hauppauge 150 issue? Should I go over to their forums instead? Thanks for all of your help.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. If a user ever reports missing audio, they're always a PVR150 owner. All card a treated the same in GB-PVR, but this one seems to often misbehave when it comes to audio.

what card would you most recommend? I read bad reviews about the PVR350 on this forum, so I went with the 150 instead...

PVR150 is probably still the card I'd recommend. Most people dont encounter this problem. I've never seen it with my PVR150.
