Hi

I'm having a problem with getting the sound to play when playing my dvds. I get sound when watching live tv and while listening to music using gbpvr. However when watching a dvd after a bit of a stuttery start I get perfect dvd quality picture but no sound at all.

If i play the dvd through Windows media player i get sound.

I'm using purevideo for audio and video and i've tried every combination of renderers i could find.

Any ideas? I've attached my logs if they can shed any light on the subject.

thanks for your help

are you getting it on all DVDs? I have sound from 90% of my DVDs, but the odd one or two don't have sound in GBPVR regardless of audio renderer I'm using....

Sorry, I'm not really sure. The logs look ok.

Thanks for looking guys.

I found the answer though.

It turns out that Purevideo Audio Codec does not provide 5.1 decoding on the pc when using anything other than Windows media player to play a DVD. Apparently they are working to fix this but haven't managed it yet. If your using pass through to spdif then it is not a problem but for me it is!!!

see here

So for DVDs it looks like i need to find another audio codec. Is it possible to get just the audio codec or do i need to buy another set like the inetervideo or cyberlink ones? Can anybody suggest any alternatives?

Thanks for your help

I'm using AC3 filter, free and well featured - you can get it from here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AC3_Filter
It's the one that VLC uses, which was always my favorite 'do everything' app, (unitl i got hooked on GBPVR Smile )

Thats great fuzzweed.

I'll give it a go this evening.

Is this gogin to give me the same problems that you have with only some of your dvds working with sound? or do you think that is a seperate issue?

thanks again

Nah, I think my sound problem is down to getting dodgy stuff off bittorrent Wink .I have no problems at all with legit DVDs (or quality ISOs) in GBPVR - it's just a shame that it's not quite as happy with shonky downloads as VLC is...
