You can't use Hauppauge decoding???

I have a single Hauppauge 150MCE that I am trying to use with gbpvr. What I find strange is that when I choose the Main Concept Hauppauge video decoder in the gbpvr config I can't get any video on LIVE TV. When I playback something I recorded it seems to work fine. If I choose system default I can watch live tv and what is recorded but it tends to be a bit jumpy. Using the Hauppauge decoder is clearly more smooth but if I can't use it for LIVE TV then it is sort of useless.

Has anyone else run into this?
