I am not very familiar with .PLS files or URL's for internet radio stations. I have tried to use the .PLS files in the Net Radio folder as examples put I can't get any of the other URLs that I have tried to work. GBPVR gives a error that says something like unable to connect, try again later. Sub, could you tell us what GBPVR is expecting in the PLS file. I'm trying to located a News/Talk station in the US.

Thanks

The .pls file were just downloaded "as is" from shoutcast.com. You should be able to find hundreds of station's .pls files on that site.

I am aware of one problem with low bitrate mp3 radio stations inconjunction with the MVP. News/talk type radio stations often tend to use low bitrate streams. The GB-PVR shoutcast functionality requires a buffer of about 96k before it can begin playing audio (done this way to avoid stutter). If it takes more than about 6 to 8 seconds to fetch this first 96k, the MVP can sometimes drop the connection and go back to 'Contacting servers'. This problem is just something to be aware of. Higher bitrate music doesn't tend to be a problem.

Download some more .pls files and give them a go.

Thanks. I had not looked at shoutcast.com. I'll give it a try.

Sub,
I went to shoutcast.com and tried a couple and neither would work. The GBPVR PC client just hangs. Could you try one of these. Shoutcast.com -> On the right side of the screen, search for Spoken -Talk -> Select either #7 or #13, should be either 820 WBAP Dallas or WROW News. Thanks.

Sub, The #7 and #13 may not be those numbers anymore. I also found it by searching in Shoutcast for "WBAP" and found two entries. Neither of them worked in GBPVR. It just hangs. The WBAP website is http://www.wbap.com. It has a link for their new MP3 format. When you click on it, it downloads a .pls file but GBPVR won't play it either. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ok, I've now fixed the problem for the next release.

The header coming back for this stream was slightly different then the ones I had been testing with. It'll now cope correctly with both types of header.
