I've noticed this in 96.12, 97.7 and 97.9

When I'm in the Capture source settings screen in config, I can set default recording to high, and still GB-PVR defaults to medium when setting up a recording or recording liveTV...

In the Web Admin, I can set the default to high, and it seems to catch..

Is there a settings somewhere that I can do this from within GB-PVR or Config?

Maybe this is what you did, but I'll say anyway:
In config-edit capt. source you can't set the recording to high. It will always record medium. What youn vcan do there is change the medium setting to a higher bitrate.

Just to confirm - I got the same problem of not being able to set the recording quality to high in config. What I would like to know - if the high quality setting won't "stick" - why is it there in the first place?Smile

Sorry if I'm wrong, but what exactly do you do to set the quality to high?
You can't set it to High, you can change the settings of the medium quality (and the others of course) and thus change the "standard" recording quality.

I also think that the settings don't "stick" through an upgrade af gbpvr.
I'm quite sure I had them set higher and now they seem back to default, after the 97.7 >97.9 upgrade.

The default is always 'medium'. This is how it is supposed to work. You can edit the medium profile to use whatever bitrate and resolution you prefer.

So the different profiles are available to edit values later use, not to select which will be your defauly profile, like when using WebAdmin...

Correct. This is how it has been since GB-PVR created. I dont know (or care) how web admin does it.
