Are you able to view LiveTV?

If so, are you able to view it in Timeshift mode?

I saw this eror in your gbpvrrecordingservice.log:

6/8/2006 11:54:21
PM.375 ERROR [6] Error starting recording: Access to the path 'D:\Videos\TV\King of the Hill' is denied.

Can you think off a reason why it would do that.

First I make sure that I have permissions to write/delete on that folder, after changing a couple of settings and add another group the recording fuction refuse to work. Then I remember a trick on the Services window (located @ Administrative Tools>Services). I look for GB-PVR Recording Service, right click -> properties, select "Log On" tab and specify my current user account on win xp, press apply button, restart the service and walllaaaa.

This must be that the restriction on that folder specify that only I can access them and that is the reason of why the recording service can write the mpg file on them. But I always did this to my personal folders and never have this kind of issue with GB-PVR. I cant understand why isnt working with the "Local System Account".

At least if in the future someone have the same problem here he will have the solution.

1st, good for you that it worksSmile
2nd, There have been threads about sytem-accounts etc etc before, I'm sure you can find something if you search for it. I think I remember something like: GBPVR will only work under a administrator account, but don't hold it against meWink

You know how windows is vulnerable to attacks under an administrative account for that reason I use limited accounts while Im doing things that dont involve software installings, setting system parameters, etc. Like I said this problem appears since the last two releases of GB-PVR in the past never had such problems.

By the way thank a lot, all of you for your time and help Big Grin

tipstir Wrote:Are you running GBPVR on PC running Server OS? Make sure you have permission for the user name you use on each PC so that GBPVR knows who has access and doesn't. 97.9 seems to be acting up and I've gone back to 96.12 to fix this problem and many other issues..

Naaa is only windows xp pro with some restrictions to minimize the risks of malware and viruses. Wink

I have a similar problem, but, I get one recording, then all others fail. Once I restart GBPVR recording service, all is well, for the first scheduled recording. live TV works ok. I know permissions are correct because 1st recording works.

Running Win XP pro SP2, GBPVR 97.09.

SUB couldn't see anyhting in the log files, so I'm stumped. I've got a spare box, so I'll try a real-fresh install from that (its running CentOS and my Asterisk IP PBX right now, but who needs to talk when you've got email!).
