Hi all,

Since upgrading the DB to SQLLite as a replacement for Access I have had a couple of recordings fail, (i.e. failed appears in recordings screen) , however when I remote in and check the box, the recording exists in my recordings directory , and I have to move it to a location picked up by video library to view it, the recording is fine and I can watch it with no problems.

Its only happened a couple of times since I upgraded, and most recordings are ok, I upgraded to 97.09 a couple of weeks before, with no problems, so seems to be related to the new DB.
I think maybe the DB Update is failing, no errors appear in the logs though?

Anyone else experienced this?

Hi stryder,

You are not the only one having this problem. I have been getting this problem ever since upgrading to 97.07 & 97.09. I initially though that it was because of the database but I did a complete reinstall of 97.09, without upgrading the database, and I still had failed recordings appear in my recordings screen but the file was recorded correctly on my hard drive. I have now gone back to 96.12 and the problem has gone.

Another person started a thread earlier relating to this:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16289

And more people have slightly different but possibly related problems:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16508
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16782

Hope you manage to get something sorted!

Where are you scheduling your recordings?

I usually use the web admin 90% of the time, but have noticed that it generates errors in the 'Event Viewer' quite a bit. I have since started scheduling locally from the BGPVR interface, which works more often. Sometimes it will pause for a period before actually working.

The web interface tells me that it can't schedule a recording quite often, and many times the show starts recording anyway. It seems to hate recording a show in progress.

I've also found that even browsing the web interface will sometimes kill a recording in progress. The recording status says that the recording is in progress, but the file stops growing at that point.

Sub, I don't see too much going on in the log files at the same time that the Event Viewer logs errors. Is there anything I can provide to help track this down? My system is semi stable now, and I'd prefer to keep moving forward.

I was scheduling everything within the GBPVR client rather than through web admin and have never had problems with actually scheduling the recordings.

My logs did say that the recording had started successfully and stopped successfully, and then it appeared that it ran comskip so I do not know if this was related to my problems.

Hopefully someone still on v97 can help you out further.

If you can post your logs that cover the time the problem recording occurred, I'll take a look. Also post what time the recording was due to start and stop.

Just to add something further, as well as the odd failed recording which seem to be happening more frequently.
I have also noticed that the pc has stopped waking up for recordings, the recording service seems to be inactive, as I have windows processes which are scheduled to wake the pc and still work ok.
Doing a re-boot of the pc and restarting the recording service seems to resolve the problem until about a week later when it stops waking up again.
I never had this problem running 0.96.x
any ideas?
