Well, subject says it. I want to take some old VRS tape and make mpeg files which I can use in GBPVR. Is there a way to do this in GBPVR or should I use some other app to do the recording?

Thanks,
Greg

Sub always recommends the WinTV2000 software that came with your Hauppauge for this kind of work.

Assuming that you don't like the WinTV2000 software, you *could* set this up like others are doing for recording digital channels from the STB. Run svideo or composite from your VCR to the inputs on one of your capture cards. Then in GBPVR setup, configure a capture device that uses your composite/svideo inputs. Select "none" under EPG. Additionally, you need to create a "channel" (a fake one for the capture device) called "vcr" or something else that you can recognize.
This should allow you to record/view any output from your VCR (tip: if you have this capture device as the last one in the list, then "live tv" will default to this one). Now you should be able to play your tapes and setup a "manual recording" in GBPVR under "recordings, manual recording". Start the tape at the time the manual recording starts.

You can search the formus for "digital channels" etc, for more info on this type of setup.

Which CD? I have an orange CD with drivers. My card was a PVR150MCE. Would it be on the MVP CD?

Thanks,
Greg

The WinTV stuff is not on the MCE CD's. You can get it all from the Hauppauge web site, tho. It works fine with the 150MCE cards.

What did you do to get it to work. Once I installed the WinTV2000 from the PVR150 page, all I see is this when I try and run the application.

I dunno...probably nothing special, just install & go. I've never had any problems with it. That file should be in the Windows\System32 folder along with a bunch more hcw... files. Did you reboot after the install?
