Hi all

i have 2 tuners - 1 is a pvr 150 and the other is a pvr 150mce - the 150 use to be installed on its own and was working fine - but since i installed the second tuner i have lost all sound from it - either via live tv or recorded shows. i thought it might have been a plugin issue but after removing all plugins it was still doing it. the logs all look ok - no errors. the weird thing is that the video is there just no audio.....

anyone have any ideas on this ?

thanks

Search the forum for sound and 150, there were problems before with that. I think it was a driver issue.

i had a quick look - and found that people say its a driver - ive tried the original drivers the betas - the latest on the hauppauge site but nothing seems to be working. - tried a format of the hard drive and still no go - but i think the issue is more with my PVR 150 MCE then my PVR 150.

since the format i did a fresh install of the drivers that come with the MCE card - then GBPVR and .net etc - now both cards are installed but only the mce is setup in gbpvr - if i watch live tv i get no sound at all - but if i run the fm tuner first i get sound when i go back into live tv. but i dont think that recordings get sound even when i can hear in live tv.

after a restart same thing happens no sound on the card until i open the fm tuner....

any ideas ?

I, too, have a 150 and 150MCE and my 150 has no sound after a reboot. I could get it back by changing channels on LiveTV. All would be fine till the next reboot. Perhaps you could see whether this channel change works on yours and if there really is no sound in recordings when you get the sound back after running the FM tuner. With two tuners you have to know which is which. Start your machine up and simply record two sessions at the same time and then go into Recording/Pending and watch each recording. This will tell you if one has no audio. Now cancel the recording on the no-audio one and run LiveTV. Check no audio then change channels to see whether it gets audio started. If it does, start another recording and check it as above.

If yours checks out like mine, I have a workaround for you. Lets know more detail.

There is something funny in the PVR150 drivers that can cause this for some users, but I've no idea what. I've tried to ask Hauppauge about it they didnt provide any insights.

If you're reinstalling drivers, make sure you run the hwcclear utility.

Sorry to hear your problem is worse than mine. Like sub says, this seems to be a problem for others, too. (Not much of a consolation, I know). See this thread, for example. http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=7652

I very much hope you find a solution.

my 150 sound just decided to stop work for no real reason, my 350 continued to work, i had to put the 150 into another pci slot (well didnt have to but i did) and do a format to get it to work again.

not the ideal solution, but one day works of setting up a new machine, is easier than searching around forums, waiting for hauppauge support etc.

thanks for your help guys - i think i have found the problem, i was using the frequencies from the tuner assistant like 45750000 in the channel info and this is when i got no sound at all - when i changed this to the channel number ie tv1 is channel 2 on cable it had sound, and then i found that sound appeared to be ok on the rest of the channels - im going to do more testing tonight to confirm this but i was up half the night trying everything. totally not sure why it started happening on the pvr 150 cause i had the same driver on it, unless it was cause i upgraded gbpvr to the latest version then forgot to check what the channel number etc were so had to resetup from scratch.

will post results tonight when i have got the machine working on all channels recording everything i want to record....

ok its a bit later then i expected - but ive got it working ok at long last - so if anyone has issues with no sound on channels they are watching when the tuner is setup with the frequency number try using the channel number - i got the channel number using the tuner assistance app in START | GBPVR.

I cant believe how hauppauge can let this happen.
