Hi!

Is there a way to configure the layout of icons on the screen?

If I enable a large number of plugins the icons all scroll down the left hand side and tuern into a bit of a mess ... the obvious answer is to not enable quite so many plugins/icons, but then that defeats the purpose of having them?!

Thoughts ...

Yes, I'll need to come up with some sort of scheme to cope with this. Nothing yet sorry.

I may just make the ability to say whether a plugin is on the front screen on the "Extra's" screen, and create a button for this. That way you could still choose to have one or two favourite plugins on the front screen, and the rest enabled - but tucked away in a sub menu.

Another alternative would be to scroll the buttons up or down.

I'm open to suggestions.

Would it be possible to setup the plugins/icons so they appear on any screen the user wishes? There could be so many different plugins it could be kinda hard to guess where people would be happy placing them....

As an example....
I posted in the wishlist forum for real/wmp support for net radio, but I worked round it using the Customs Tasks commands and a load of .rm files. It would be nice to to be able to place these tasks on the net radio page.
I assume that it would be similar for placing the plugin icons?

I think that something which works like the start menu would work well. The buttons on the main screen could run tasks or alternatively bring up a sub menu of other buttons.

I think it would only be necessary to have one level depth of sub menu. These sub menu pages could be added in the config tool like custom tasks are added and when a task is added, you will need to specify where it is placed but rather than just having Main and Extra screens, you can specify Main or any configured sub menu.

And you already have the code to handle pop up sub menus because they are used on the Recordings screen and TV Guide screen.
