Hope you can help me with a couple of possibly obvious questions, but both have eluded me so far.

1. On Aspect Ratio. I have a Viewsonic widescreen monitor which has a 16:10 aspect ratio. When I have gbpvr in full screen mode, the 'auto' aspect mode (changed using F7) enlarges the video to fill my screen, which stretches the picture vertically a small amount (I receive a 16:9 digital signal through UK Freeview, and any recordings made played in Power DVD display in 16:9) Whilst this isn't a major issue by any means, I wondered if there was an option in gbpvr to force the original aspect ratio.

2. Adding new channels. In my source details of the config, a number of channels are listed without tuning details - which obviously I cannot receive. While most of these are junk, i'd quite like to add one of the channels to GBPVR (abc1), and wonder if that's possible? Win TV picks up the channel no problem.

Thanks in advance,

FK

It correctly uses the original aspect ratio when you have it set to 'auto' aspect ratio and have the tv shape set appropriately to either the 16:9 or 4:3...but there is no built in support for 16:10. You could tweak the values in config.xml to accommodate your 16:10 resolution (see <AspectRatioModes> tag>.

All I can suggest is trying another scan. There is no mechanism for manually adding channels.

Thanks for this. Taking your advice, i edited my config file, but the only logical part I could find to change was the 'TV Shape' part, as below.

Code:
<!-- Aspect Ratio settings -->
  <TvShape>16x9</TvShape>
  <AspectRatioModes>
    <AspectRatioMode name="Auto" ratio="0,0,0,0" />
    <AspectRatioMode name="Fill" ratio="0,0,1,1" />
    <AspectRatioMode name="LetterBox" ratio="0,0.125,1,0.875" />
    <AspectRatioMode name="Remove LetterBox" ratio="0,-0.125,1,1.125" />
    <AspectRatioMode name="Center Cut" ratio="-0.05,-0.17,1.04,1.17" />
    <AspectRatioMode name="PillarBox" ratio="0.08,0,0.92,1" />
  </AspectRatioModes>

I changed this to '16x10', but in gbpvr, this setting actually squashed the video vertically much more than it should be.

I must be doing something wrong here, but not sure what!

Dont change the <TvShape> setting. It only understands "16x9" or "4x3".

To adjust it for 16x10, you'd probably have to leave <TvShape> set to 16x9, then do the math to adjust 'Fill' and 'Pillarbox' ratio settings to have the correct dimensions for your screen.

That would make more sense - only problem is, I have no idea what the four digits in the ratios relate to, nor how they relate to screen size.

Obviously, I don't expect you to do the math for me, sub, but if you could point me in the direction of maybe some web-based explanation of this, I'd appreciate it. Smile

0,0 is the top left of your screen. 1,1 is the bottom right of your screen. If I set the values to 0,0,1,0.5, this would be using the top half of the screen.

Thanks again sub. Using the ratios 0,0.5,1,0.95 I've now got the correct 16:9 Smile
