I didn't know this but it (the standard music plugin) does indeed play ogg-files. It transcodes them to mp3 first, it creates a temp mp3 file in the recordings dir.

I'm just as we speak adding support for ogg files!!

Not sure if it will transcode for MVP though....have to test that.

I thought that this question was somewhat related to what you are all discussing so I am posting it here. I installed a codec so that I can play all the files that I (mistakenly) ripped as .aac files when I bought my ipod through windows media player. So, I can play all of those files through the standard music library that comes with gbpvr just fine. But since the standard music library doesn't exactly have the best method of scanning though many files, I tried the music library 2 plugin. This plugin works great for all of my standard .mp3 files but will not play the .aac files. Why does it not use the same method of playing files as the standard plugin? Is there another plugin that has better methods of scanning through music files that does use windows media player like the standard music player plugin?

It does use the standard method of playing files - there's no other way of doing it. But it doesn't show files it doesn't recognise. I could make it view aac files really easy. That's not a problem.

But it would depend if you want them to be added properly into the library rather than as just file names.

My profile lists my email address, if you send an aac file (and I can get a reader really easily) I'll add support for it.

hmm, ok, on you on the latest/latest version?? I added read support for lots of different track types (found a new reader). So yes send me the file and I'll try it. It might now just be a matter of saying .aac is an acceptable file extention.

Im pretty sure that I am on the newest version, but I'll re-download it tonight and see if it works. If it doesnt, ill try to find the shortest .aac file I can find Smile

no it wont work for you, I have to change the code to accept a new file extention. If all it takes is me to do that, I'll put in something that looks at all the acceptable formats for the reader I have.
