I have upgraded to 9.7.13 recently and everything has worked OK except now the padding does not seem to work sometimes.
Here's what happens.
Today I had scheduled 4Wheel Drive Championship on channel3 which starts 17:30 and finnishes 18:00
I also pressed quick record of Scrappy Races on Prime which starts at 18:00 and finished at 19:00.
I also have the simpsons recording on reoccuring which starts at 19:00 on channel 3.
No other programs scheduled until 19:30

I have 2 x PVR500 => 4 tuners.
I set pre padding to 3 minutes and post at 10, but have upped it to 11 hoping it might reset something.

Heres what happened.
4Wheel Drive Championship recorded 1:02:59. Pre padding OK, no post.
Scrappy Races recorded 59:58. No pre and no post padding.

One more thing to meantion was that when I went into the GBPVRBuffer folder, there looked like files from other channels which I did not schedule but where currently on. They where not being added to but just existed there.

Attached are the logs as suggested.
I hope I have covered everything. Thanks.

By default it'll try to satisfy recordings with the least number of tuners possible. Padding is always treated as optional.

If you'd prefer to keep the padding if at all possible, then you could set <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> in config.xml. You should ok with this setting given you have four tuners, but its not really recommended for users with two tuners.

I have a similar problem running 98.08b with 3 tuners and <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> in config.xml.

Pre-padding is set to 5min, Post-padding to 15min
1st recording: 7:40pm to 8:15pm on one channel
2nd recording: 8:15pm to 9:10pm on another channel

What GBPVR did was:
1st recording: Pre-padding done, no Post-padding using Tuner 1 (PVR150)
2nd recording: no Pre-padding, Post-padding done using Tuner 1 again!
Tuners 2 and 3 (PVR500) idle all the time.

I was expecting the system using another tuner for the second recording to properly handle Pre- and Post-padding. Recording three shows at the same time is not a problem - all three tuners work alright then.

Logs are attached for your reference. Thanks a lot.

Thank God I'm not going crazy - I experience this also with the latest version. Do you know how annoying it is to miss the last bit of Dr Whos final episode

EDIT: Sorry :o - I didn't have <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> . Will try that to see if it works now.

Why is this? In older versions of GBPVR my two tuners alternated by default, and I liked that. I sometimes pad shows that are broadcasted "Live" and, as such, their end time is not as strictly adhered to as pre-recorded shows. I'd like to make that padding "mandatory" and activate the second tuner if that is necessary to record another program that I have scheduled.

Although not recommended, will anything not work if I do enable the alternate feature since I do only have two tuners?

You can still change that setting if you like, and it will behave the way it used to, but it is more prone to generating conflicts on two tuner setups than when it is set to 'false'.

Okay, I'll give it a shot. As always, I appreciate your rapid response!

I have experienced this also since 98.8. I have two tuners, and had <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>false. It seemed that all consecutive recordings, even on different channels, would not have any padding. This was particularly frustrating when I lost the 30 minute post padding to account for football game delays on Sunday evening, when there was another tuner available.

Last night I set <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true, and with multiple consecutive recordings on the same and different channels, there were no conflicts, and all padding was as expected.

It seems that having <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>false forces use of the same tuner for consecutive recordings on different channels, even when the second tuner is available.
What, me worry?

Yes... I think that's what sub said earlier in this thread?
