Is this HW setup fast enough?!

Hi all,

I've been having random problems such as choppy video, lag between audio and video while watching live TV, temporary freese-up while envoking the TV Guide during live TV playback, slow remote control response.

I am wondering if my setup is just too slow?

I have an old computer with the following specs:

-Athlon 1700+ XP (1.43GHz)
-512MB RAM
-120GB HD
-NVidia GEForce 4900
-Hauppauge PVR-150

The motherboard is KT3 Ultra.

Is this setup ok? I'm mainly concerned with CPU/RAM speed combination.
Can some veterans help me out here?

Yes, it should be ok. You may need to try a few different video decoder etc to find what is best suited to your hardware. Also, may be worth looking at using Overlay instead of VMR.

Dont use anything like ffdshow, you dont have the CPU headroom for it.

I tried Overlay and the output becomes 16:9 even if I set it to 4:3 (which is what my TV is). So things like channel guide runs off the edge of the screen.
