Hello,

I'm using mencoder to compress my recordings to xvid avi's.

If I encode large files (result files large than 1GB) I cannot playback these Files.

Does anyone know who to transcode large mpeg files to xvid avi's?

My mencoder command string:
Code:
{SOURCE_FILE} -noodml -oac mp3lame   -lameopts abr:br=128 -ovc  xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=1000  -aspect 1.3333 -vf pullup,pp=md,scale=768:576  -o {DEST_FILE}

This is not a systematic mencoder problem. I have several files that have been transcoded with mencoder to xvid and are > 1gb and they all play nicely

The -noodml option instructs not to write the OpenDML index for files >1gb. This might be the issue.

try a different build. I've found that some will encode better than others while others couldn't encode anything longer than 2hrs. I use the Mencoder from MeWig.

I will try the version from MeGUI 0.10.

I tried the -noodml option because I read that this option might solves the problem - but I didn't.

The problem occurs with and without -noodml

Is it possible that my problems are caused by the timestamp problem of my PVR 150 card?
